Growing up, Jimin had always been fond of Jungkook. The other boy was only a year younger than him, so the two were perfectly close in age to be playmates from the beginning. Jungkook was the eldest child of the head Alpha and Luna of the Jeon pack, and if he only presented as an Alpha, which seemed likely, he would inherit the title from his father. Even with high status among the other kids, Jungkook was never arrogant or mean, especially with Jimin. They were best friends, always together to spend as much time with each other as possible before their mothers dragged them to their separate houses come nighttime. Everyone in their sizable village knew they were best friends.

When they were teenagers, Jimin's thoughts on Jungkook began to change. He didn't know how or why he felt the way he did, but his heart had started beating faster when hanging out with his best friend. Things didn't get better when the younger boy, at 17, got Alpha markings on his arms. Young Alphas from many villages left home to train to become strong, capable of building a life and protecting their family. This training lasted for four years and would again begin for newly presented Alphas in two years. Jungkook had talked about this for a long time, about how excited he was to experience it.

Almost a year rolled by, and the date of Jungkook's departure neared. Jimin was still yet to present, and he was scared he wouldn't do so in time and be left behind. A couple of days before the Alphas of the Jeon village were due to leave, it finally happened.

Jungkook tried to reach out to him before leaving, but Jimin hid in his room, begging his mother not to let the Alpha see him. He had always thought he would be with Jungkook during the intense years of training, always thought they would go through it together. But now, he had Omega markings adorning the back of his neck. He would stay back and learn the craft of homemaking.

The first days Jimin spent crying. But at some point, he had to get over it. Helping him do that was a good friend of his, Taehyung, who had presented as an Omega a few months before him. The other boy didn't see the problem Jimin was having; now that they were an Alpha and Omega, Jungkook could mate Jimin during the chase held after the Alphas returned.

Jimin disputed. Jungkook had never thought of them like that. Plus, the Alphas could look for a mate from any village. Jungkook was extremely popular among Omegas of the Jeon village; his mate would become the future Luna, after all. Why would he ever choose him? He wouldn't!

Years passed, and the peace Jimin had found within his secondary gender was disrupted when any day now, Alphas, strange and familiar, would finally arrive in the village. The 22-year-old Omega didn't know what to think. The chase was nearing, and sooner than later, he could be mated to someone.

Jimin couldn't think about much else these warm mid-summer days. He was in deep thought as he carried a wooden basin, walking home from the nearby beach where he had done the laundry. He almost didn't hear his name get called, and the male jumped a little.

"Jimin, dear!" It was the Luna, Jungkook's mother. Jimin had spent so much time in the head couple's house that he was almost family. After presenting as an Omega, he had been embarrassed in the woman's presence. Yet, she never seemed to even acknowledge it. Since then, Jimin spent a lot of time assisting the Luna. Not that he minded. "Are you busy right now?"

"Uhh, no, I just finished the laundry. Do you need something? I'll take these back home quickly," Jimin answered.

"If you could, that would be great! Come over when you can," the Luna smiled, giving him a small wave before returning to her house. Jimin's family home wasn't far, so it only took a few moments to get there. He gave the clean clothes for his mom to hang and rushed back.
