🦋chapter 4:pushing her away🦋
The day flew by and Hanma didn't show his face anywhere. Y/n began to worry about him and what might've happened to him. Should I go and find him after school? She asked herself a couple of times.
Hanma on the other hand was in his home pretty comfortable. After the morning nerve breaker, he decided he didn't want to return to school. It was pointless to him anyway. He sat on his couch waiting for the night to show her face, so he can go out with his friends and probably do something stupid. He put The Office on and watched it, till he feel asleep.
Around 5pm Hanma was woken up by a knock on his front door. He rubbed his eyes and got up still confused what's going on. Who might it be? No one knows where I live, he told to himself as he was approaching the door. He slowly unlocked the door and opened it to reveal the beautiful face of the most popular girl in his school. Y/n was standing in front of him with her worried look. She was still in her uniform, which means she came right after school ended. Hanma looked at her and put his hand behind his head, he scratched it."What are you doing here?", he asked her, his voice deep and husky, because he just woke up, the tone in his voice cold and annoyed.
"You disappeared today from nowhere and I got worried for you", y/n explained to him and put her usual smile on her face again. This kinda got Hanma irritated. She was the reason why he decided to skip, even tho it wasn't her fault or anything.
"How did you find my address?", he asked one more time getting even more irritated at her kindness, or whatever it was.
"I asked your teacher and she gladly gave it to me", y/n smiled once again.
Maybe it's because he just woke up, or maybe it was because he's still mad at those people, who were judging him today, but Hanma didn't want to communicate with her. Her nice and kind persona annoyed him so much and he still believes a person can't be that kind, so he decided to be 100% honest with her.
"Look, shorty, I don't know what you're trying to do here, I don't know if you feel bad for me or anything, since I'm not as good as you, but you need to leave me alone fr. You're getting really annoying, you know", Hanma turned his back on her and closed the door in her face.
Y/n was left completely speechless outside of his door. This action of his offended her so much, but she decided to not take it personally and show Hanma that she's not bad.
So that's why for the rest of the week y/n always made sure to say hi to him, to smile more and invite him to have lunch with her. Of course Hanma refused every time..not because he didn't want to spend time with her, but because of the others. He didn't want to ruin her and her popularity. The girl didn't wanted to give up tho, she genuinely thought that Hanma is not a bad person, so she decided to be more pushy with him. On Tuesday she sat on his table at lunch leaving everybody looking at her with confusion. Hanma rolled his eyes."Seriously, why do you just give up, shorty, it's getting on my nerves", Hanma turned his look to the girl next to him, who still had that nice soft expression on her face.
"Not before you tell me why you hate me so much!", y/n proudly said to him. She knew he didn't hate her, since she didn't do anything to him to offend him.
Hanma took his time to look around them. He saw the whole school staring at them and more specifically Mikey and his little friends, who were throwing bad glances at him. He knew that the only way to push y/n away is if he lies to her, that he hates her. Even tho it wasn't true at all. Hanma took a deep breath and turned once more to the girl, he looked her deep in the eyes, expression dead serious and body completely calm.
"I hate you, because you are annoying. You are just like all of those popular people, who like to judge us and mistreat us", he started to lie to her and he clinched his fists to calm himself and not look like he's lying. Y/n looked at him with disbelief and shock.
"You know it's not right, Hanma-san", y/n tried to explain to him, "I've never judged you because of who you are. In fact I think that you aren't as bad s they say you are. I think that you are a good guy, you're just hard to love".
These words made Hanma's heart raise a little bit. Hard to love? He thought in confusion, because he didn't understand what that means, but he had to pretend like he doesn't care. Y/n was the first ever girl to see him in this light of his. That's why he wanted to be around her, to protect her and spend more time around her, with her. Inside he was so soft for her, but he didn't want everything she build during all these years to go to hell because of him. So he didn't say anything more. He picked up his stuff and got up walking away from her.
Y/n was standing alone at the table. She felt so sad, because of his words. No one ever told her such hard words. Does he really hate me? Baji and Chifuyu got closer to her."You ok, y/n?", Baji asked her and sat next to her looking at her sad expression. This was the first time he saw her actually sad, "this guy is going to pay for what he said".
"It's okay, Baji-kun", y/n forced a smile on her face to insure him she was ok, "not everyone is going to like me. I know that",she explained.
"Hanma's opinion doesn't matter to us, y/n, you are the kindest person I know", Chifuyu sat on her left and put his hand on her shoulder, "you are amazing, you know that, right?".
"Yes, Chifuyu-kun, thank you", but no matter what she heard from her friends y/n knew it's not true. They will tell her everything to make her feel better about herself. Maybe I'm not as good as I thought I was, she thought.
