Chapter 7 - Percy the rock
Well, I am not a rock yet. So, we are on the bus. I saw the seat next to us has a slight indentation but I bet that was from use. When Annabeth handed me her hat I got up and walked up the aisle. When I got to the front of the bus I saw the 'kindly ones' as Peyton had called them interrogating Annabeth and grover. Then I watched as Annabeth stuck her knife in one of the furies. What I also saw was the other fury exploded without Annabeth touching it.
The next thing I know I am jerking the steering wheel while the driver seems to be wrestling against some unseen force to get back to the wheel. I wasn't the only invisible person on that bus. In fact, I think that they were sitting next to me, Annabeth, and Grover.
We walked a little ways until we found a building called Anuty mue's gdarne gonme Epmroum.
"What does it say?" I asked when I realized it wasn't actually called that.
"I don't know." Annabeth replied. I forgot she is dyslexic too with how much she likes to read.
"It says Aunty Em's Garden Gnome emporium," Grover supplied.
I think it may have been just me but I think I smelled food.
"Do you guys smell that?" I asked.
"Burgers?" asked Annabeth.
"Monsters?" asked Grover.
"Oh come on goat boy. Your nose is clogged with dust." I complained.
We walked into the emporium and I swear I could feel a presence following us. The invisible person from the bus maybe...
As we walked we saw a whole bunch of statues. For a garden gnome emporium this place has really large gnomes. All of them look terrified.
"Ah customers. I haven't had any customers since they built the highway." said a woman. When he showed her face she had a thing covering her hair and sunglasses on her eyes.
"Hello, we just came in off the streets and do we smell food?" I asked.
"Yes Perseus I have food in the back, follow me." I didn't even think about the fact that I hadn't told her my name. I was so hungry. The presence I had felt since we had walked in seemed to stay behind as we followed the old lady.
When we reached the back of the store there was a small food court and the old lady handed us each plates with food.
Me and Annabeth dug in but Grover just sat there.
"Who are you?" he asked.
"I am Aunty Em!" the old lady said, "Where did such delightful children come from?"
"Um... a circus caravan." I said. Wow, Peyton is way better at lying.
Annabeth stifled a laugh.
"We better get back to the ringmaster," said Grover. I looked over to him and he seemed to be terrified.
"Ok, well if you have to go can you at least take a picture? I want to model some statues off of you. If you can tell, the faces are so hard to get right." Aunty Em said soothingly.
"I don't thin-" Grover started but was interrupted.
"Sure, what is the harm?" I replied.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw Annabeth growing comprehensive.
Aunty Em directed us to a bench and I could sense the same presence as earlier nearby.
Then she walked away and claimed she was looking for her camera.
"Run." a voice whispered. I didn't listen. Just then Grover stood up and looked around confused. Then, Annabeth did the same. All of a sudden I felt a pair of arms wrap around my torso and lift me off the bench, "Run." the same voice whispered again.
Then I heard the sound of hissing. Aunty Em, Aunty M! Medusa!
"Scatter!" I yelled. I could almost feel the presence wanting to strangle me.
"If you look at her reflection it won't paralyse you!" Annabeth yelled.
"Ah, Annabeth Chase. The daughter of my bitterest enemy. Come on out. I could be your forever friend." Medusa said. I grabbed the sword Chiron gave me. It was the same sword Peyton had used at the museum. It turns into a pen when it is capped. I could see the reflection of medusa on the bronze.
All of a sudden I heard a ragged breathing beside me and I turned around to find a floating glass ball.
"What the Hades!?" I yelped.
"SHHHHH! She will find us." whispered the voice. Because of the fact that it was a whisper I couldn't figure out who was saying it or if I knew the person that was saying it.
At present Medusa was too busy hunting Annabeth because she hates her mom to pay attention to a conversation between me and a floating orb.
"Ok, I am going to guide you in killing her, you understand?" the orb whispered.
"Uh huh." I nodded.
I felt one hand on my shoulder and the warmth reminded me of when my sister hugged me before she left for school.
"Get up and look through the ball I am holding." the voice whispered. I am officially dubbing it that.
I stood up and the hand on my shoulder rose with me. I carefully sneaked around the statues. What i realised was, when The Voice wasn't talking I could barely sense their presence. Almost like a ghost.
When we finally found medusa she was leaning over Annabeth who had her eyes closed so tight that you could see them darting around beneath her eyelids.
"Ok, walk up behind her and cut her head off." The Voice told me.
I crept forward looking through the glass ball, I raised my sword and Ssplggh(I tried to imagine what it would sound like and that was the best i could come up with)
"I killed her!" I said.
"Great job." The Voice whispered and I felt the hand leave my shoulder. The glass ball had disappeared from existence too. No wait, it is over there.
I ran to the food court and found some drachmas and an address. I grabbed Medusa's head and put it in a box. I stuck a tag that said, "600th floor empire state building." I set some drachmas in my palm.
"Percy, what are you doing? The gods are going to think you are impertinent." Annabeth asked.
"I am impertinent." I said and then I set the drachmas on the box and suddenly the box was no longer there.
"Hopefully Mr. Z doesn't kill you yet." Grover muttered.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing!"
