Chapter 23 - House of my uncle

So, Percy is an idiot, not much new. They played the guessing game, now that was fun to watch. If you haven't guessed It is I, Peyton, the ruler of nothing because I am not royal!

Anyway, now to protect my brother from our uncle.

They were basically captured immediately. I followed behind. Honestly, my glove must be really powerful because people never realize I am there unless I speak. Percy might but I'm unsure about him.

Anyway, Percy and co. were captured by these creepy skeleton guards. I had to use all my willpower to not stick them with my knife. Also, how do you stab a skeleton? Can you drown one?

"Ah! So this is the lightning thief!" Hades said when they were in his throne room, "I will make you suffer for what you have done to me!"

Wait what? Done to him? Our mom is dead because you sent the minotaur to us!

"What have I done?" asked Percy.

Then I noticed the helm of darkness. Or the lack of it. If it is Hades' symbol of power wouldn't he have it with him at all times?

"You stole my helm, you insolent sea spawn! Oh, I know, you are here for her!"

He snapped his fingers and a hologram of our mom surrounded in golden light appeared between Hades and Percy.

Ooh. I think I must have missed the part where she wasn't dead. Woops.

"Step on the pearls! Step on them now!" I said.

I ripped them out of Percy's pocket and tossed them to the floor. Grover and Annabeth immediately stepped on theirs but Percy was confused. I grabbed the bag from Ares off his back. Then, I lifted up his foot for him and smashed the pearl with it.

"I knew that your brother's aura was too strong for him to be alone." Hades said.

"I'll pretend I understood that. Uncle, I know who stole your helm! It wasn't me or Percy!" I said. I took off my glove.

Hades looked taken aback at my appearance.

"If it wasn't you then explain why you have the master bolt!" Hades boomed. I don't know why but he looks kinda like Nico and Bianca...

"Ok, I can see how that would look bad but I only have the bolt because I found it in a bag that Ares gave my brother! Ares has your helm!" I said sticking my hands out like it would save me from being blasted.

"And why should I believe you?" he challenged.

"Uh... what is the most serious oath you can take in the mythological world?" I asked.

"Swear on chaos."

"Something less serious but still means a lot?" I asked. The information on the oath of Chaos filled my head. Man, I am never swearing on that.

"Swear on the river styx."

If I were anyone else I would go look for river sticks.

"I swear on the river Styx that I will get you back your helm even if it costs my life! Are you happy now uncle?"

Hades looked thoughtful.

"You know, the last person to call me uncle was... actually nonexistent." Hades asked.

"Well Uncle H, consider me your annoying niece cause I'm not gonna stop! Also, I don't have a pearl so do you have a way I can get out of the underworld?"

"You just claimed the quest. I am very sorry but I can't help you." Hades actually sounded sincere.

"Ok, before I go, do you know a Bianca and/or Nico?" I asked.

Hades looked very startled at that, "Don't tell anyone."

I knew what he meant so I nodded and then made a mad dash for the exit.
