Chapter 20 - The Entry to Death
Probably just freaking out. Who wouldn't be. I am literally going to follow my brother into the freaking underworld. Wait... why are we going to the underworld if I know where the bolt is? It is in my back pocket.
Wow, my life is messed up.
I closed my eyes and sent a silent prayer to just a random god or goddess asking for advice. The strange thing is... I got an answer. It was kind of like if you ever hear of a psychic vision or something like that. An image of 3 old ladies(the fates) appeared behind my eyes and said, "You must go to the underworld for the next part of your quest."(I didn't know they could talk. I just thought they knit your life out like creepy dictators.)
It appears that I must see my uncle after all. Let's hope he doesn't embrace his titles and kill both me and Percy. If he did that he would start a war with Zeus because he would destroy the master bolt and a war with Poseidon(maybe, he probably doesn't care if we die with how many other kids he's had) because we are his kids and he doesn't want us killed.
I wonder where I would go in the afterlife. Gah, that is really off topic. (it's what you get when I am sleep deprived)
Anyway, we got to the DOA place before Percy, Annabeth, and Grover did. Later, I found out that they had encountered pro-crutsy or something like that(it is a very sad day when an author is too tired to look something up.) who tried to kill them with water beds. Death by water bed. Sounds about right.
Anyway, we did a head or tails to figure out who would go into the underworld and who would keep look-out up above. We decided since there were 4 of us, 2 would go to Hades's realm while 2 would stay up. Now, Alexandra created a coin out of the mist thing. I think she manipulated it in her favor because she thought Travis was cute though. She may have been in the casino for a while but she was still about our age.
I have to go to the land of the dead with a ten year old. A ten. Year. old. Come on! Connor is sweet and innocent, no need to ruin that. Right?
Well, now for the hard part. Convincing Charon. The minute Connor asked if his name was Chiron we were so screwed.
"No! I am Charon! C-H-A-R-O-N! So, how did you die?" he asked with a bored dismissal. Had to be grand for him to be interested.
"Oh, why sir! I set my house on fire! You see I was feeling a tad strange and I don't know what came over me! Can you please have mercy and not send me to hell?" I clasped my hands.
"Hmmph! Wait over there with the rest of the spirits," He dismissed me.
I have no idea what Connor said but I have a feeling it wasn't good based on the fact that disgust was apparent on Charon's face.
I had just enough time to slip on my glove before my brother came into the place looking worn out.
Question, why on Gaea's planet earth would three completely different people die in a bathtub? I mean seriously? Is Percy's brain full of seaweed? Fish poop? Octopus barnacles? Yep, new name for Perce; Barnacle brained idiot.
He of course made the same mistake Connor did and basically blew our cover when Charon figured out they were alive.
Lesson learned, never follow Barnacle Brained Idiots into the land of the dead.
