You walk down the streets of Ascent at night, the lights are glittering and you are with your family. You think to yourself, "What could be better than this?" You spoke too soon.
People screaming a running in the opposite direction. You didn't understand what had been going on, you were only 13. Your mother took you and your little brother by the hand and started running back. All three of you managed to make it home. Your mother turned on the TV and the news started playing. " A company called Kingdom has invaded Ascent, they are here to take the Radianite from our land. Scientists believe radianite is some sort of dangerous material that can give you supernatural powers. Please stay inside your homes. Kingdom is taking over."
You looked at your mother and asked, "Ma, what are we going to do?" It took her a few minutes to reply.
"I don't know..."
4 Years Later
"Ma, I'm back from the garden!"
There was no response.
"Ma? Gabe? Where are you guys?"
You looked everywhere in your house. You checked your kitchen and heard a sudden boom. You quickly grab a knife to protect yourself.
" Show yourself!" You screamed.
"Happy Birthday, Zara!"
You couldn't believe it. It had been 4 years since you last celebrated your birthday. Your smile glowed as you placed the vegetables from the garden in the sink.
"Thank you guys so much!" You said.
All three of you celebrated until it was time for you to go to bed.
"Goodnight Zara, my birthday girl!" Your mother whispered to you. You closed your eyes and went to sleep.
You suddenly woke up in the middle of the night. You were looking around to see what woke you up but you couldn't find it. You went outside for a breath of fresh air until you saw the radianite. They were glowing a very deep blue, it seemed as if they were calling you. You walked forward and thought about it. You thought about what your mother told you and how she said not to touch radianite.
"What she doesn't known won't hurt her." You said to yourself. You walked a few steps toward and put your hand on the glowing rock. You stepped back hastily. The air felt different from just a few minutes ago. You looked around at your surroundings and then at yourself.
"I guess nothing happened." You sighed. You went back to bed and thought about being someone with supernatural abilities. You could be a superhero, make your family proud, and your mother wouldn't have to worry about working anymore. She had to start working 2 jobs after dad passed. Even two jobs wasn't enough to get food for the whole week. Prices rose and the search for jobs were even harder. Eventually, you fell asleep after thinking all these deep thoughts.
