Chapter 9: Part III

     "Zara, how are you feeling? I heard you had quite the night last night with your project."
 
"I'd say it was a success, we'll kind of. I'm not sure what it did to me, but I feel stronger."

"That's great. The mission is in two days. Please prepare, and what will you be wearing?"
 
"I have a few ideas."

    All I had with me were the clothes I packed for a mission and the things I had on right now. I still had the gear from Valorant, I might as well just reuse it. I already had a few ideas on what I was going to do with it.
     First thing I did was dye it. It took some time, but finally managed to dye it all black. I also replaced the V for Valorant with a K. I tried it on and it was a perfect fit.
    The second thing I did was train nonstop. I was determined to get stronger. I remember Sova telling me his workout routine. It had worked well with me, so I did the same thing but I doubled it. He was the second strongest on the team, so naturally, one of the best.
    It was finally the night before the mission. I was ready for anything. I looked at my phone and scrolled through my photos. Most of them were Chamber and the cats I had to leave behind. I was starting to get over Vincente. It got harder every time I thought of him. I find myself thinking about him a lot, but then I just remember what Oscar (CEO) had told me. He was a flirt in the workplace. And at some point, he flirted with Viper and many more. It was already 8 PM. I needed to wake up early tomorrow, so I went to bed. In the morning I straightened my hair and accidentally burned my neck with the straightener. Some might say I'm extra, but I like looking good on the battle field. 

[Chamber/Vincente]
"Sabine, don't act like you aren't happy to see me."

"Not now, Vincente."

"Oh well. Anyway, how are we doing the mission tomorrow?"

"Fade, Reyna, Sova, Cypher, and you will all be in a certain place. Sova will be with Brimstone, Sage, and I. Cypher will be outside watching the door, and you three will be walking around guarding the area. We can't have anymore screwups."

"Alright. I'm heading out."
     I head back to my dorm and look at the cats. Cypher couldn't watch them tonight, so it was just me. I pet both of them and give them a few treats. Gabe and Gabriella. Zara would have liked to seen them play together. It was already getting late, so I went to bed.

[Zara/You]
    Once I finished getting ready, I met Oscar and Rosa outside my room along with a few other security guards. We all got onto his private plane and went to the location.
    It was a tall building with a lot of windows. They landed on the roof. I managed to break open the vent and crawl inside. I'll have to admit, it's a little stuffy inside here. I have to get to the lab. That's one of my main objectives. I see another vent leading to the main hallway. I look at my phone to see that Oscar messaged me. He said he see's Valorant making their way in the building and to be careful. I unscrew the vent and get out hastily.

[Chamber/Vincente]

     The clothes I put on today are so different from my normal clothes. They are heavier and harder, almost something a person in a SWAT team would wear. I finish getting ready, feed the cats, and board onto the aircraft. Once we arrive, I head into the second hallway and keep my guard up. I hear pieces of metal moving, but pay no attention to it.

[Zara/You]

     I hide behind the plant and wait for the head scientist to come this way. His name is Omar Pinto.  He's 43, father of 3, and lives on the poorer side of the district. I had to make my own plan since that's what I was told to do. I plan on switching bodies with the scientist, telling the other scientists to take a break, steal the formulas, and make my way out. If I encounter any of the guards, I'll just take them out.

     After a few minutes of waiting, I see him. I peek out from behind him and lightly tap his shoulder to transfer into his body. I put my other body back into the vent and start walking to the lab. I see all of the busy scientists and I greet them.

 "Everybody take 20. The boss approves." I watch everyone leave the workplace and start searching the desk. He said they would be in the third row, so that's where I start. I see a big yellow folder and take it since it says, "formulas." on the outside. I quickly walk back to the halls to see a man standing near the vent, it's him.

"Ah, hello sir."

"Bonjour. Don't mind me, I'm just guarding the area."

 "Oh, is that so?"

"Yes? Is something the matter? You look red?"

 "No, sir, I am fine." I have to remind myself not to look at the vent or he'll get suspicious. After standing there, I just couldn't take it. I accidentally peek at the vent and he turns around.

 "Oh, the vent is loose. Let me fix this." He slowly opens it and I see my unconscious body sitting there.

"Zara?"

"Oh, look at that. Probably just a worker. Excuse me.." He quickly stands in front of the vent and tries to protect it, luckily for me, I am kind of fast. I manage to tap my own body and switch back. I grab the formulas and make a run for it, leaving the scientist with Chamber. I finally get into a different hallway just to see Fade standing there. Just my luck. 

"Ma'am, please leave the area."

 "Sorry!"

"Wait..Zara?" I quickly run into the next hallway. She probably thought she was mistaken and didn't pay attention to me. I wasn't having the best luck that day because I ran into Reyna next. She didn't see me, but still. My only option was to go back to the hallway Chamber was in. Once he sees me he grabs my arm and holds on tight. 

"Let me go, Chamber."

"Zara, why'd you run away? Why did you leave me?"

"Because Viper told me to, now let go."

"What? Are you seeing someone else? What's that mark on your neck? You look good, by the way"

"Leave me alone." I try escaping his grasp and he grabs me again. His hand touches my knife and he accidentally gets cut."

"Vincente! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to.."

"It's fine." He hugs me as the blood drips down his hand. I grab his hand and wrap it with the spare bandages I have.

 "Vince, I can't be here. I'm on a mission. I'll explain the next time we see each other, and no, I'm not seeing anybody else. How are the cats doing?"

 "They're fine. I like the new style, it suits you." I look at him and hug him. I feel a sharp pulse inside my body. I fall onto my knees and see my hand glowing again.

"Vince, I'm..fine. Don't call anybody, I have to finish this mission." He hesitates for a moment and then agrees. He picks me up and manages to make it back to the roof, unseen. He leaves me with Oscar and the rest of the team while he has to get back.

"Zara, when will I see you again?"

 "I don't know.." He gave me a faint smile and waves goodbye. As the helicopter ascends, he heads back inside. I give the folder to Oscar and Rosa while they congratulate me for my work.
