Chapter 1: Part II

     You wake up in the morning to the smell of fresh eggs being cooked. You run into the kitchen to see your mother and little brother getting everything on the table ready to eat.
"Good morning, Zara" your mother says.
"Morning mom!" You reply.
You all eat your breakfast and clean up afterwards. You decide you need to take a shower and go job searching once again.
     As you step in the shower you notice something on your hand. It was a blue liquid on the tip of your fingers. It almost looked like the blue from the radianite but you didn't think much of it and just went on with your shower. After you finished your showers you get your bag and put a few items in it.
"Bye mom! Bye Gabe!" You yelled as you squished your little brothers cheeks. He smiles and waves goodbye.
" Zara, wait!" You heard your mom yelling . She comes running from across the house to look at you. She fixed your hair a little bit just to put on your hoodie.
" Zara, I want you to have this. Your father gave it to me the day you were born." She said.
You thanked her and smiled while you tucked it inside your jacket to keep it hidden. She hugged you and you went on your way.
     You look at the streets. They were practically empty , the only people there were the kingdom guards. You start walking to the orphanage to see if they need help with anything or have any little tasks you can do for money.
     As you walk out of the orphanage, you look around. The air feels the same as it did when I touched the radianite. I walk down the street looking for the tea shop. The workers at the orphanage asked me to get some tea and a few biscuits for the children.
     As I'm looking for the tea on the shelves and I see a man with a hat and a mask as well as another with a fake eye. They didn't look like they were from here. The man with the fake eye spoke with a Russian accent and for the other, I couldn't really tell.
     I found the right tea and biscuits and walked to the register. I noticed the two men looking at me and I could hear them whispering about me. Suddenly, they came up to me and asked in a very low voice, " Are you a radiant?" I looked at them in weird way and shook my head no. I wondered what made them think that.
      I got the tea, collected my money, and started walking home. I was in the normal empty alley i always took to walk home until my head felt like it was breaking. I couldn't stop shaking and fell to the ground. My heart felt like it was beating faster and everything was starting to get blurry. The two men from the shop started running towards me asking if everything was okay. I don't know what happened afterwords because I passed out and when I woke up I was on a bed.
    "Ah, she's finally awake." The man with the mask said.
     "Where am I? What's going on?" I questioned.
     The man with the fake eye looked at my and said, "You fainted in the dark alley and we took you to someone who could help you, her name is Sage, or at least that's what we call her."
     I see a woman walking into the room, this must be who they are talking about. I start to feel nervous and started to wish everything would stop. Suddenly, everything did stop. It felt as if I froze time. I started running as fast as I could trying to find the exit. Once I did, I ran home, realizing I had forgotten my jacket behind but that didn't bother me. The time went back to normal and the man with the fake eye and the woman named sage started to chase me.
      It took them a while to lose them but alas, they were gone. I went inside my house and my mother was waiting there for me, she looked furious.
"What took you so long? Where were you? You were supposed to come home by 7 o'clock! What's that on your hand?" She yelled as she inspected my hand. She tried rubbing it off but it was no use. It looked and was almost like a tattoo until she realized what the symbol was. It was a little clock. The radianite caused it to form on the hand I touched it with.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH THOSE ROCKS, ZARA! KINGDOM WILL COME AFTER YOU IF YOU ARE A RADIANT!" She screamed at me. It took her a few minutes to calm down and when she did she said, "Leave."
"What?"
"Zara it is too dangerous for you to stay here. You are putting me and your brothers life at risk. Kingdom will be after you!"
"But Ma, where will I stay, what will I do?" I questioned. I started to regret ever touching the rock. I didn't think things would escalate this much. I went to my room and started to pack my bag. I didn't have many clothes but I took what I held most valuable. I kissed my little brothers forehead when he was sleeping and left without saying goodbye to the woman who raised me for 17 years.
