"Are you ready?" Yoongi questions as the two stand right outside the building doors.
Jeongguk's eyes are dim and full of uncertainty, but he shrugs, quickly slipping into that facade he plays so well. The only thing he knows. The heartless dick that couldn't and wouldn't give a fuck.
It's the farthest from the truth–the farthest from him.
How can he let go of a role everyone adores? One that he's so good at playing, even if it means losing himself.
"I'm ready to get this shit over with," he replies dryly.
Yoongi lets out a hushed laugh as he throws an arm over his brother's shoulder. "That's good enough for me."
They walk inside, Yoongi taking a seat as Jeongguk heads to registration, where he's handed a clipboard with a shit ton of questions that make his head spin. Questions that aren't relevant to his problems, and now he's wondering if this will even help. He fills it out nonetheless, handing it to the receptionist as instructed before sitting down next to his brother.
They wait for what feels like forever in Jeongguk's mind. Nerves build up, his hands clammy, and his leg shakes, bouncing up and down unconsciously. He can't focus on anything but the analog clock hanging on the wall in front of him.
"Jeon Jeongguk?" A voice calls out, pulling him back to reality.
Yoongi is the first to get up. The older looks back at his brother with a slight frown as Jeongguk hesitates. He does though. His legs feel like jelly as they walk down the corridor to the therapist's office.
The assistant knocks on the door once or twice before a woman opens up.
She's a bit older, about in her late 40's. Her hair is long and dark. She has plump and round lips and circle-framed glasses that hang on the edge of her nose.
Jeongguk notes the cheerful smile on her face. How her eyes are shaped like crescents as she grins.
She feels warm and bubbly.
There is something maternal about her, like a loving mother that makes her kids fresh baked cookies once they come home from school.
The way her eyes shine, he can tell she's a genuine, kind soul, like someone he knows.
"Jeongguk, right?" She asks excitedly before giving the younger a firm handshake. "Hi, it's so great to meet you. I'm Dr. Kim, but you can just call me Chun-Hwa, okay?"
"It's nice to meet you too," he says, a nervous smile pulling onto his face as he looks back at his brother. "This is Yoongi, my brother," he. introduces, and the two spare a couple of words.
"Are you over eighteen?" Chun-Hwa questions, and Jeongguk nods.
An almost animated frown pulls onto her face, "I'm sorry, but he'll have to wait outside until the session is over."
The younger looks over at his brother in a panic, eyebrows knitting together in confusion. "Um–Uh, you'll wait for me, hyung?" he stammers.
Yoongi lets out a soft chuckle and nods. "Yes, Kookie, I will wait for you. Go ahead," he assures before giving the boy a thumbs up.
A proud smile is on the older's face as he watches his brother step into the office as if he was a parent sending their child off to their first day of kindergarten.
Chun-Hwa closes the door behind them, before sitting down in her own chair. "Please sit Jeongguk-ssi!" She says, hands signaling to the couch behind him, and he complies.
She pulls up to her desk before looking over at the male with that bright smile. "So how are you doing today?" Chun-Hwa chirps.
It finally dawns on Jeongguk.
