Aubrey and Destiny stood side by side at the granite island counter in the kitchen, chopping vegetables while flirting and teasing each other. He'd leave her to her vegetables in peace for awhile, then brace each arm on either side of her and pin her against the counter so that he could kiss her, or lick her neck, or tease some other random upper body part that was easy for him to access. All the while, he'd grind his pelvis into her, as if interested in starting round two of their earlier activities.
"I'm going to miss this," she said, poking out her bottom lip while looping her arms around her neck.
"You're talking like it's going to come to an end." His voice was laced with concern.
"You're going off to work, and I'm interviewing with the L.A. Times in hope of getting work. We won't be able to just...spend all day together like this." She thought about it for a moment. "That's not even factoring in your impending return to music. But...I guess it's kind of a good thing we won't be around each other 24/7. That way, you don't get tired of me." She slid her arms down from his neck and turned to face the counter, resuming her vegetable-chopping duties.
He remained behind her and wrapped his arms around her. "As if I could ever get tired of you," he growled into her ear shortly before nipping at her lobe.
She tilted her head to the side, granting him access to her neck.
It took him no time to pick up on the invitation; he was quick to drop loud, wet kisses on the slope of her neck while pulling her back against him.
"Ta-da, I am here, bitches!"
Destiny straightened a bit and turned to face Carlos, who was dressed in clothes so colorful, he looked like a one-man gay pride parade. "Uh...what do you have on?"
"You do not have the authority to question my fashion, bitch," Carlos said, sliding a pair of sunglasses down the bridge of his nose. He pointedly looked towards the dining room table. "Where is everyone? They can't be sleeping this fucking late." He whipped out his cell phone and checked the time in the notification bar.
Aubrey and Destiny exchanged knowing glances.
Carlos arched an eyebrow at them over the top of his phone, noting Aubrey's position behind Destiny. "Not to knock your kinky hustle or anything, but shouldn't there be some kind of unspoken rule that your perverted ass shenanigans shouldn't take place anywhere near the food or utensils that we're all forced to share in this bitch?"
"We weren't doing anything, so you have nothing to worry about."
"Mmmmhm," Carlos muttered with a roll of his eyes. "As if I can trust that."
"You'd be lucky to have just about any part of me in your food or on your utensils," Destiny fired at him playfully, trying to keep a straight face.
Aubrey nudged her, nearly doubled over in laughter.
Carlos rolled his eyes heavenward. "Lord, please don't make me cut a bitch today. I know that Destiny is a child of God, but your child is talking crazy." He lowered his eyes and pointed to Destiny. "You think you're cute but if I catch any whiff of your pussy juices on my omelette, I'm fighting you as if you've grown a dick overnight. You do not get any kind of lenience just because you happen to be a bitch. Not when the fuckery could've been avoided."
No longer caring who heard him, Aubrey burst out in laughter and raised a hand to shield over his eyes.
Destiny touched his arm and leaned against him, joining in the laughter.
"Neither of you have answered my question, by the way," Carlos pointed out. "Where's my bitch and her bitches? Is Rih still knocked out? Taking a shower in some wing of this house that I haven't seen yet?"
"She's...no longer here," Destiny answered slowly, all traces of laughter disappearing.
"What?" Carlos shrieked. "Damn. I really wanted her to see this outfit. Why did she leave? What... she left in the middle of the fucking night?"
"That's about right, yeah," Aubrey said, sliding the chopped tomatoes into a short square plastic container. He carried the container over next to the stove, then returned to the counter to chop fresh mushrooms.
"What would possess her to leave in the middle of the night?"
Destiny watched him ponder over the question for a minute, then glanced up at Aubrey.
Aubrey narrowed his eyes at her and gave the slightest shake of his head.
She bit her bottom lip to hide a smile and focused on the green peppers she was slicing. "I saw her right before she left, actually," she told Carlos. "We both did, me and Aubrey."
"Yeah?" Carlos claimed one of the stools on the other side of the island counter. "What did she say? Did she tell you why she was leaving?"
"She didn't...really have to. The reason why she was leaving was obvious."
Aubrey cleared his throat loudly.
He's being extra because he doesn't want me to tell Carlos what happened, she thought, studying Carlos. But he deserves this bit of tea. Above and beyond him deserving it, it'll be a nice little payback for that pussy juice comment he made earlier. Just remembering the line he'd said was enough to cause a giggle to erupt from her lips. She raised the back of her hand to her mouth.
"Well?" Carlos demanded. "Is someone going to talk?" He glanced at Aubrey. "Aren't you the one who penned the lyrics, 'Say something, baby'?"
Aubrey chuckled and shook his head. "Yeah, that was me. Collaboration track with Timbaland. But when it comes to this situation right here...I'm not saying shit."
Carlos frowned at him, then turned his eyes on Destiny. "This situation?" he repeated.
"You can't tell anyone," Destiny told him. "Literally no one. You have to promise."
Carlos's eyes widened. "Something crazy went down last night, didn't it?" he hissed. "Something really crazy by the looks of it. And Aubrey said 'shit.' I don't think he's ever said 'shit.' I mean...not in front of me. He used to say it in songs all the time, but these days he talks all proper and shit. But he just said 'shit,' so...it's something major, isn't it? Tell me it's something major. Damn. Where's my popcorn. Is it too early to eat popcorn?"
