—-Mean while in the couch's office—-
"It's just a sprain. He'll be fine, but he's out for this week's game." Billy said as Asher was getting his ankle wrapped in the next room.
"Dad, we need to rotate our receivers." Jordan said
"What you need to do is put me in. Look, I can play both ways, coach, offense and defense." Spencer said
"And what happens when you get gassed out there, Spence?" Jordan said
"Why don't you let me worry about my game, ok?You just worry about getting me the ball." Spencer said
"Jordan, why don't you give me and Spencer a moment?" Billy asked Jordan and he left the room.
"All right, so what do you say, coach?" Spencer asked Billy
"Uh... I say no." Billy said, sitting down at his desk.
"Look, I'm the only one here with his future riding on this season. These other guys ain't got nothing to lose." Spencer said
"I feel you on that, and believe you me, I got the boosters and the board, everybody's breathing down my neck, but I have a responsibility to you. You think I don't notice you and your sister getting in late every night, you both going back home every day?" Billy said
"And what about my moms? What about Dillon? If me and Madison ain't there to take care of them, who is?" Spencer said
"Look, you are burning it at both ends of the field. I can't have you doing it on the field as well." Billy said as he stood up.
"Look, man, I left behind my family, a'ight, my friends, my school. I left behind who I am." Spencer said
"I understand that. I'm trying to protect you." Billy said
"I didn't come here to be protected. I came here to win, and the way I see it, I ain't the only one with it all on the line here. Now, our best chance at winning this game is with me on both sides of the ball, and we both know that." Spencer said a little bit louder then he was talking before and Billy stood there quietly looking at him so Spencer left the room.
—-The Next Day At The Baker's house—-
"All right, y'all. Come on. Hurry up. The boosters do not like to be kept waiting." Billy said and Laura started to fix his tie as Jordan was coming down the stairs.
"Spencer, Madison what's going on? We're leaving. Get... get dressed." Billy said as he seen the two wearing causal clothes.
"We are dressed." Spencer said and they all started to stare at the two shocked.
"I am guessing they don't agree with dressing up." Madison told Spencer
"And you know what? You look great. You do. It's just these things are so..." Laura said and got cut off by Olivia who was now down the stairs.
"stupid and pretentious?" Olivia said
"Hey, easy. Yeah, yeah, no. Just throw on a blazer and snazz that outfit up." Billy said, putting on his blazer.
"And Madison sweetie how about just go put on a dress or some dress pants so we can go." Laura said seeing Madison had on ripped jeans and a varsity jacket.
"I don't have a blazer here." Spencer said
"Yeah I don't have elegant clothes here." Madison said looking at Laura's dress
"Uh... ok, no problem. We'll just swing by your house on the way, you can grab one, - and we'll go from there" Laura said
"Boom." Billy said
