𝘼𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 day of Ivy's birthday rolls around, both Letty and Ivy sit on the multi-colored carpet of Alouette's living room floor, munching on the vanilla flavored cake they had baked for her birthday. "Happy birthday Vee," Alouette shoves a bite of cake into her mouth.
"Thanks," she says with a full mouth.
"So- did you ask Peter to the movies with you yet?" Alouette swallows the frosting covered sponginess.
"Yeah," she says matter-of-factly. "Did you ask James?"
"Y-yeah," she lies poorly as she takes yet another bite of cake.
Ivy stops, snatching the fork from Letty and giving her a sharp look. "Liar," she scolds. "That's not fair. We made a deal and you didn't keep your end. I embarrassed myself asking that idiot out."
Letty raises her brows, not knowing what to say. "Sorry?"
Ivy rolls her eyes, standing up and grabbing Letty's phone from the coffee table. Storming back towards the blonde, she throws it in her lap, "Call him now," she demands.
"What?" She asks in disbelief.
"Call him," she repeats, "Right now."
Not wanting to argue with the the angry teen, she pulls up his contact, which she'd gotten against her will from Nat. Pressing on it, she shakily puts it up to her ear, a swarm of nerves washing over her.
Then, when she hears his rough voice on the other end, she almost wants to puke in her mouth. "Hello?"
She looks towards Ivy with wide eyes, running her hands down her pajama covered leg. "Um- hellooooo," she says in a sing-songy voice, watching as Ivy smiles humorously while shoveling her cake in her mouth. "This is uh... Alouette. I got your number from Nat."
She can practically hear his smirk from the other end. "I was hoping to hear from you eventually. I didn't have your number, that's why I didn't call."
"That's okay," she shakes her head, "I was just wondering if maybe you'd like to go to Sam's with me." She felt like she was back in middle school, practically chocking on her own cringe.
She can hear him chuckle and she wants to drop dead right then and there, even Ivy is holding in her laugh from across the rug. "Yeah, I would maybe like to go to Sam's with you," he mocks her illiterate sentence.
She palms her face, "Would tonight work for you?"
"Yeah," he hums. "Want me to pick you up, or do you want to meet there?"
"We can meet there," she answers.
"Okay, I'll see you at 8:30?"
She checks the clock on the wall and inwardly winces, "Yeah, see you then," she pulls the phone from her ear and hangs up.
Ivy let's out a loud laugh, clutching her chest in second-hand embarrassment. "You sounded like you were trying to set up a business meeting with him."
Alouette rolls her eyes, standing from the carpet and walking to her room, where Nat is laying on the bed with her phone in her hand.
"Really?" Ivy looks towards the red-head with squinted eyes, "You said you'd be back in ten minutes."
"Got caught up," she shrugs. "Plus I heard everything that happened. Including Letty's sales pitch."
Ivy laughs, plopping down on the bed next to Nat. The red-head stands a second later, "What time are you supposed to go with Peter?" She asks Ivy.
"Mmm, the movie starts at 9, but we agreed to meet at the dollar store for snacks at 8:45."
"So you both have like 30 minutes to get ready?" She says with an exasperated sigh. "Procrastinators."
"I'm already ready," Ivy says as she looks down at her cherry red straight leg jeans and white shirt, both having a couple paint marks stained on them.
"Me too," Letty seconds, her white sweats wrinkled from her lounging.
"No," Nat says immediately, walking towards the closet door of Letty's baby blue room. She sifts through the options, pushing hangers left and right until she pulls out an orange dress with rhinestones clinging onto it.
"That's from middle school," Alouette cringes at its sight, embarrassed to have ever worn anything like it. Both Nat and Ivy laugh, continuing to watch as Nat looks for different clothes.
Alouette ends up dressed in a strappy white mini-dress with orange and green hibiscus flowers printed in an overlapping design. She pairs it with a short white cardigan, making sure she has some coverage against the cold.
Meanwhile, Ivy is laying on the floor, refusing to dress in anything other than what she was currently wearing. "I like this," she states, gesturing to her outfit.
"Yeah, but it's stained," Nat argues.
"I think if you like it, you should wear it," Letty says as she pulls on her white high tops, figuring this would probably be a good situation in which she wears shoes.
"See," Ivy gestures to Letty, "She agrees with me."
"Okay, whatever," Nat gives up, "But you both need to go."
Letty check the time, and sure enough, it was just about time to leave. All of a sudden, vines of nerves start to wrap their way around her and she sits down on her bed. "I should cancel."
"No you shouldn't," Ivy snaps, "If you cancel and I have to go do this with Peter I will never forgive you."
Letty looks towards the small girl, also noticing a bit of nervousness printed about her face. "Okay," she sighs, standing back up.
She grabs Ivy's hand and says her goodbyes to Nat before they make their way out of the apartment. "See you later," Ivy says, turning left.
"See you later," Letty says, turning right.
