𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 Alouette's apartment, Nat frowns at the smell of lavender essential oils and lit candles. Ella Fitzgerald's songs play softly in the background as the faint hint of cinnamon waltzes around the limited space.

"Letty?" Nat calls from the living room as she sets her bag down and peels her jacket off. Alouette peeks her head from the kitchen, with raised brows.

Her blonde curls are hung loosely over her shoulders and a smear of flour is painted on her cheek. She has a small smile on her face as she looks down into the bowl she's mixing ingredients into. "Yeah?"

"What are you doing?" Nat asks as she starts walking into the kitchen, hanging her jacket over the head of the couch as she walks.

"I'm baking," Letty answers just as Nat gets to see for herself. The kitchen is a mess, with glass mixing bowls filled with different colored globs of mixed condiments and frosting-covered spatulas scattered around the pastel counters.

Nat's eyes are wide as she picks up a whisk by the handle and inspects the coral liquid that drips off in large amounts. "What exactly are you baking?" she grimaces as she sets it back down.

"Alright- don't sound so grossed out," Letty throws the dough she's kneading into a bowl and steps back, wiping her hands along the apron that is tied around her neck. "It's not that bad is it?"

"N- no," Nat lies quickly, shaking her head. "Not at all. I was just- I was wondering. What's it for?"

Letty sighs, picking the dough back up and pushing her knuckles deep into the over-floured pastry. "It's for Ivy," she answers. "Her birthday is next week and when I called Lucy this morning, to see if she had anything planned, she said she'd forgotten all about it."

Nat shakes her head with disappointment, "Well at least let me help you?" She offers as she starts piling dishes into the sink, filling one side up with hot water and a stream of winter blue dish soap.

"Yes please," she accepts gratefully with a defeated sigh, letting Nat take the bowl of dough from beneath her hands and dump it into the trash.

"So," Nat starts, pulling out the bag of flour and some eggs, along with a couple of other ingredients needed for the recipe, "I heard from a little blonde birdie with a big pecker that you and James were together all day yesterday."

"Ew," Letty mumbles as she begins to wash the dough off her hands. "Why do you have to say it like that?"

"So you were? How was it? What'd you guys do?" She turns her head to scan Letty's face, smiling with excitement when she sees Alouette furrow her brows and clear her throat. Letty always got nervous when she was trying to lie or hide something.
