One of the highlights of being best friends with Adam, Bree and Chase is observing their training sessions.
Today, they were in the mission simulator, in their mission suits, wearing black goggles and standing on the platform to prepare for their mission. Mr. Davenport, Leo and Harper were behind the second control panel in the lab.
Mr. Davenport removed the key from the control panel. "Adam, that was the rebel leader. The whole purpose of today's mission simulation was to interrogate him."
"I did, and his answer was, 'aahhh!'." Adam responded, chuckling.
The three of them walked over to Mr. Davenport, Leo and Harper by the control panel after stepping off the platform.
"Hey, next time could you maybe throw in a cute, blue-eyed rebel?" Bree suggested. Mr. Davenport gave her a look. "What? I'm just sayin'. It's not gonna kill you to add a little somethin'- somethin' for the ladies."
"Step aside, amateurs." Leo said, passing Adam and Chase. He handed Harper the goggles and linked arms with her leading her to the platform. "Go ahead, Big D. Set it to 'Awesome'."
"Yeah, Mr. Davenport." Harper agreed as she stretched her arms. "I wanna see if I can do some serious damage."
Mr. Davenport stood on the platform and took the goggles from them. "Guys, these goggles are not a toy."
"Come on! My birthday's coming up- Globally known as 'Dia De Leo'." Leo told his step-dad.
Mr. Davenport shook his head. "No. I designed the mission simulator to fine-tune their bionics. Not to go on 3-d joyrides. Besides you're not trained for it."
"I've watched a lot of The Karate Kid movies, if that helps." Harper muttered, looking at the ground.
Mr. Davenport gave her a look before he walked off the platform to work on the goggles, with the two teens following him.
"Well, how about as a birthday gift you give me my first bionic ability?" Leo asked.
"Or I could gift-wrap reality and you could play with that for a while." Mr. Davenport suggested with a smirk before walking away.
Chase stood up from his chair and crossed his arms. "So, Leo's having a birthday. What are you, like, nine?"
"Fourteen." Leo corrected.
Chase chuckled. "No, seriously."
"So how are you going to celebrate?" Bree wondered, resting her hands on her hips.
"We're all going to celebrate. Every year my mum throws me a big surprise party." Leo answered with a smile.
"Really?" Adam questioned.
Leo smirked. "Last year, she baked a cake the size of me. I'm not gonna brag, but I was delicious."
Harper pursed her lips. "I wouldn't phrase it like that.... ever. But he's not wrong. The cakes Tasha makes are pretty amazing."
