In the lab, Harper sat next to Leo in a swivel chair, sharing a bowl of pretzels while they listened to Adam, Bree and Chase's mission instructions. Leo typed away on Mr. Davenport's computer.
"Okay, your mission supplies are packed, the schematics have been uploaded into Chase's chip, and your transport is on the way." Mr. Davenport informed the bionic siblings. "Did I forget something?"
"No. We'll just guess what the mission is and see how it all plays out." Bree sarcastically replied.
Harper popped a pretzel in her mouth before setting the bowl on the desk.
"All right. A particle collider is a three-mile-long underground facility where scientists-"
"Race subatomic particles at each other at light speed for energy experiments." Chase finished Mr. Davenport's explanation. "It's so cool!"
"I know." Mr. Davenport agreed.
Both Mr. Davenport and Chase fiddled their fingers together. "Deedle-deedle-dee!"
"There is a particle collider in Berkley. That is accelerating out of control and your mission is to shut it down." Mr. Davenport explained.
"Oh! Awesome!" Adam cheered excitedly before leaning towards Bree and Chase. "I hope one of us knows how to do that."
"Okay. We have to act quickly. The scientists that operate the facility... Scuse me." Mr. Davenport said, moving Harper and Leo away from his desktop. "Have already evacuated the control center, and if we don't shut it down in time, it will create a massive black hole that will implode the entire planet."
"Today?!" Leo exclaimed in astonishment and horror. "No, that's not gonna work. Today is Shelly's Evan's birthday party and her mom makes the best cupcakes!"
Mr. Davenport, Adam, Bree and Chase all looked confused.
"Yeah, because that's what's important." Harper remarked sarcastically to her friend.
"I'm just sayin' that woman doesn't skip on the sprinkles." He added.
Mr. Davenport patted Leo's shoulder. "Don't worry, Leo, you will get your cupcakes. Adam, Bree and Chase have all the training they need to shut the collider down."
They all walked over to the cyber desk, with Leo and Harper trailing behind them.
"I don't know, Big D. I think these guys are gonna need some.... backup!" Leo chorused, striking a heroic pose.
"Yeah, and that's why you're gonna be backup here with me and Harper in the lab with me." Mr. Davenport responded.
Adam laughed. "Oh, he said 'backup' and you said 'backup'. Saying things twice makes it funny! Oh! Saying things twice makes it fun-"
"Stop it!" Mr. Davenport shouted.
Then all of a sudden, a blue sphere materialized on the ceiling and descended to the ground, rotating as it landed.
