Legend of Keys: Huntik's Adventure In Paradise

Part I: The Overshadowed Flames

Fire is revered for its light, warmth, and safety. Something Helios aspires to be. The source of fire for all mages.

It's the 25th of February. Helios rises from his slumber. As a thin small jet of fire bursts from the mouth of his bird.

His brother walks in to say good morning. Asking question about his bird. " you still taking care of the Bailiskbird mom gave you."

Helios stares at him annoyed. " yes, Drigica is a cockatrice."

His brothers apologizes and leave him be. Helios goes on with his morning routine. He goes outside to get rotten meat from the chest to feed Drigica. He loves to watch her roast and burn it. Then gobbling it down in huge chunks. He kept her in a large beautiful coal crafted cage.

He also took the newspaper with him to read. Major headline still talk about the cities disaster. "The barrier is being strengthened, and imports are being slowed. Mages seek vengeance on the two young mages who assisted in Victoria's destruction. Helios Vulcan, Pheonix Vulcan's son, assists in the defeat of these monsters. Will he follow in the footsteps of his father or become the next legendary Helio?"

Reading it was too much for him,,
so he have it to Drigica to burn and use in her black ash wood nest.

He rushes out his house not before bumping into his father, Pheonix Vulcan. He had a face so serious that Helios couldn't look directly at it. His scar on his right cheek wasn't hard to miss though. He was shirtless and dressed in a few tattoos. His scars and burns told stories throughout his body. his body was heavily defined with a dark complexion . He wore dark black pants with a sword that rested on his side. " Your heading to the academy already? "

Helios body stiffened as he carefully responded." Yes father, how was your mission? "

He tilts Helio's head to stare him directly into his eyes." I finished early. I had heard there was an attack on paradise. You taken care of it before I even touched land. "

Kitsune came to see him. " greeting father, you shouldn't hold up Helios. He has lots of training to do at the academy. "
Pheonix rubs Helio's coal colored hair. " Well don't disappoint. At this rate you'll be on par with your brother."

Helios takes his morning run, passing by a field of training soldiers that stop to applaud him.

The Vulcan family is well known throughout the province of Dante. Always on the newspapers for their massive accomplishments like Helios' battle of Victory that made him a heroic figure of the week.

Nile waits for him at the academy steps talking with Khione. He held a grimoire in his hard. He had a new one every week.

Everyone was congratulating him. He was getting smiles and stares as he walked up to Nile. Nile says sorry that he couldn't come home." Sorry, I heard your Father came home today. I really wanted to see Drigica, but I'm scared of your dad."

Khione laughs. " Mom and him have been colliegs for so long. I don't think he'll do anything without mom pumbling him down."

Nile laughs. " that's true. Mom would drag him through the waves before he points a sword at us."

Helios comments. " you know I'm right here?"

They both apologize at the same time.

Khione went to hang out with popular clique at the school. She became popular after news came out that she helped took down Victory's destroyers.

Nile comments, "things are different now than it was before. Khione is not always by side and for you Helio. Well you haven't changed much bit someone finally rivaling your spot at the top."

Helio sighs. " He hasn't rivaled much. I don't think I've gotten stronger than him. He's just been weakened to my level."

The bell rings

His magic class was outside. For a while, Master Valerie allowed him to create his own spell. She was convinced after he showed great comprehension of mana and magic, thanks to Nile. Four witches created a barrier around him to limit the impact of the new spell.

Helio takes a deep breathe. Everyone was watching from afar. Instead of practicing their magic.

Lycaon was in class with him. He kept to himself. He had no interest in interacting with others but his friends. It doesn't matter as people avoided him more now because of his friendship with Apollon.He hears everyone talk bad about Apollon and praise Helios.

Many of them gossip that Helios' brother is better, but they call him a tone down version of his father. Referring to them as a slur, a barbarian. A pagan (foreign) outcast or a pagan (foreign) monster. An insult he heard too often.

It wasn't as bad of a slur from what Apollon was given, Alien. An extremely strange foreiner that is dangerous or disgusting.

Helio stretch his arms out. He thought of his father and brother. Two balls of black flames appeared out of his palms. " Fire cast: black blazing twin dragon."
Two streams of fire in a sloppy shape of a dragon burst from his hand. Then hits the barrier with a strong explosive impact.

It was more powerful than his previous tries. Everyone cheers but Master Valerie and Helio didn't share the excitement. The spell still felt incomplete.

Master Valerie sighs. " He's almost there just missing the form. "

The barrier drop before the Large black smoke intoxicate Helio. When school was over. It was time for him to walk home. Instead of Nile following him. It was Lycaon.

Helio asks, " Don't you have a train to get too."

Lycaon shake his head. " I'll be visiting for the weekend. My mom says your Dad is training me."

Helio was confused but kept on walking. When they arrived. Pheonix and Kitsune were sparing with flaming swords and the field was burned up.

An acre of land was burned away with large winds of heat searing the trees from a far.

Pheonix was in a state of confusion and suprise. He dropped his sword. " greetings, you must be...Lycaon."

Lycaon nods. " yes sir. I'll be with you for the weekend. "

Pheonix stutter a bit. " yeah...I...I talk to your mother yesterday...come in."

Helios and Kitsune knew something is going on. Helios ball his hands to a fist. His father looked more surprised to see Lycaon than any accomplishments he ever shown to him.
