⇠⇢"Dad, I wanna be like Mr. Boyce!" An eight year old Aaron exclaimed.
"Really? You want to go into firefighting?" His father questioned with a small smile plastered on his face while his second born watched 'Fireman Sam'.
Aaron nodded his head eagerly. "Yeah, I wanna be chief".
"You got it in you kid, don't let anyone change your decision, A" His father smiled proudly at his son's sudden interest in the career. He knew his son could do it, he wasn't a bad kid and he wasn't a kid who roughhoused like his brothers. If there were arguments between the other two he'd be the one to settle it.
Aaron's father expected a lot from his kids.
One being a stabled job.
He worked but he wasn't necessarily proud of what he did. He wanted more for his kids. He wanted three kids and that's what Elisa gave him. He wanted to show them things he didn't know at their age - but he knew now- to them.
"Driving down the busy streets, Greeting people that he meets. Someone could be in a jam, So, hurry hurry Fireman Sam!!" Aaron danced and sang to the theme song. He turned to his father with glee, jumping around.
Aaron adored his father. He saw the man struggle like a 'single parent'. At his small age of 5 he told his dad, "When I get big as you, I'm gonna buy you a big house with a doggy- like we always wanted- and a big, big, big, big bed".
"Why such a big bed, A?" .
"Because you always tired when you come home and I don't want you tired and sad. I like you happy" He plastered a wide smile on his face for demonstration.
"And you think that will make me happy? What's the dog for?" His father asked curiously.
"Yes, Scooby makes Shaggy happy" He shrugged with a big grin, while thinking about his second favorite show, 'Scooby Doo'.

⇠⇢"Shit" I lift from the bed, gasping. I slowly relax realizing Rhea is sleeping right on my chest. I stretch out my arm, opening the nightstand drawer fishing for my pills.
After swallowing them dry, I can't help but to think about the dream I just had. Despite having both parents in my life I have always been a 'daddy's boy'.
