3 AM Thoughts and Spying

"Oh no, I'm going to be going to Hexside with Edric!!!!!"

Ok Hunter don't panic, he doesn't know what you look like underneath the mask, and I'm sure he won't recognize you're voice, everything is gonna be fine.

Hunter flew into his open window into his room. Flapjack was already asleep so Hunter just put the mini blanket he made him on top of him in case he got cold. Hunter changed out of his guard attire and slipped on some pajamas and comfy socks. He had lied before about Belos needing him to report back. He was too nervous and not in the right headspace to deal with Edric's weirdly endearing flirting.

Hunter climbed into bed and tried to fall asleep. But he couldn't get Edric out of his mind. Maybe Edric could be you're friend when you go to school. Yeah he seemed interested in me, maybe he wants to be my friend. Well he should get to learn the real me instead. Yeah we can be friends, good friends. But he's the enemy. This is a problem for another day.

Hunter was about to fall asleep until he realized something. Wait he's a Blight, and his little sister he mentioned, mittens is what he called her I think, that's the girl from Eclipse Lake...Who's dating the Human!!!!

Hunter sprang out of bed, giving up on sleep entirely now and went to his sketch pad to take notes, and device of plan. He started talking to himself.

"So sense he's close to the human, I can use him to get close to the human, and do my mission. Yes!!! Belos would be so proud." After his excitement a sudden wave a guilt washed over him.

"Wait but using Edric would be wrong. He's been nothing but kind to me and he seems to like me, and be my friend." After some careful thinking Hunter came to a conclusion.

"Well I'm sure it'll be fine, he'll never know I was using him and we just won't be become "besties," besides making my uncle proud is more important than making a friend right?"

Hunter thought about it a bit more but he was too tired to really think if what he was doing was right, it is 3 AM after all. He just shrugged his shoulders to himself and crawled back into bed. Finally drifting off to sleep.

Hunter woke up to a knock at his door. He groaned in tiredness. It was early. About 6 in the morning and he did not want to wake up. "what do you want?" He called to the unknown person at the door.

"The Emperor wants you to go scout out the grounds of the school so you know it for tomorrow," the voice of Steve the Guard rang out. Hunter liked Steve, there was nothing uniquely special about him, he was just an overall nice guy, kinda rare in this world.

"Alright, thanks Steve." Hunter got up after he heard Steve's footsteps leave. Hunter finally crawled out of bed and he put on his Golden Guard armor preparing to leave. Flapjack woke up and flew over to him. "Hey Flapjack, I'm going to scout out the school today, so I want you to stay here, ok, you know the precautions."

Flapjack tweeted in agreement and flew back to his nest. Hunter finished getting ready and he climbed on his staff and flew out his window.

He flew all the way to Hexside and started flying over the top of it and around to survey the outside campus. Deciding to check it out from the ground he landed in the woods next to the school. He was about to walk out of the woods but then he heard voices. He looked around and saw the human with her three friends, the glasses one, the small one, and...the blight! Hunter continued to hide so he could spy on them and see what trouble they would cause. While hiding he heard a rustle behind him, he turned around and saw nothing, he figured it was just a bird and went back to looking.

They appeared to just be laughing and joking around with their magic. It's probably a trick to lower my guard. Hunter kept watching and the small one conjured up some kind of small bean bag thing and gave it to the human. She began showing them some move where she bounced it on her feet and hands. She called it a hackey sack. The short one wanted to try and ended up bouncing it too high it fell right on his face and fell to ground. The rest of the them starting laughing hysterically. Hunter caught himself smiling and stopped himself.

Suddenly he felt a pang of hurt in his heart. They appear to be having so much, what's the word? Fun? Yeah, fun...Hunter ended up deciding just to leave them alone and walk away. Seeing them so happy just kinda made him feel empty inside, like he was missing something. Friends... Hunter thought to himself. I don't need them, right? Maybe they would be my friends....No! Their the enemies, their against Belos, it would never be allowed even if I wanted to be.

Suddenly Edric came to mind. He can't be my friend either, it would only hurt him. But why do I care, like the others he's the enemy. Even thought Hunter decided he was satisfied with his conclusion he still felt sad. He pushed those feeling aside though and started to head back to the castle.

Meanwhile...

Unbeknownst to Hunter, Edric and Emira were walking around the woods secretly chaperoning their little sister due to their mother's wishes. They left Amity alone though, because she deserved time with her friends, so they just hung back and talked. While they were walking they noticed the Golden Guard watching the others from behind a tree, Emira was about to say something but Edric pulled her through a bush and behind a tree.

The Golden Guard heard it though and turned around. He seemed to think it was nothing thankfully.

The pair hid there just watching to see what the Guard was doing but then he just started to walk away. Looking surprisingly very sad. Why's he so sad, Edric thought feeling his heart sink. When they figured the coast was clear they went out of their hiding spot and into a clearing to talk.

Emira was the first to talk. "Ok, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT???"
