A Friend in Need

Hunter woke up and did the same routine he did yesterday. After he finished getting ready he headed downstairs and he was met in the hallway by Kikimora.

"Golden Guard, w-what are you doing, dressed like that." Kikimora had always hated him, but the way she said that was laced with much more disgust than normal.

"A very special mission from the Emperor, he entrusted me personally to it." Hunter liked to boast Kikimora, they had a bit of feud and compete for the Emperor's approval. Whenever he could get one over on her, he would.

"That, is so, great for you." She replied through gritted teeth.

"I know right, well gotta go, the emperor is counting me." Hunter smirked and walked away leaving Kikimora in a heated rage as she trudged away.

Hunter walked his way to school and when he got there, there seemed to be a lot more kids outside this time. Hunter didn't want any unwanted attention brought to him so he put his head down and started heading towards the door. He was almost inside when he felt a hand on his shoulder pull him away and push him to a darker corner.

Some random witch who seemed to be in the construction coven had grabbed him. Surrounding him was a couple other students he hadn't seen before. The witch had peach colored skin and brown eyes. He has an eyebrow slit and and peirced ears, along with a quite big nose.

"Hey you're new here aren't ya?" He had a bit of an accent to his deeper sounding voice.

"Yeah, I'm new, started yesterday." Hunter saw that there was no point in lying, he had no idea what these guys wanted.

"The names Deralo, and I just wanted to say don't get any smart ideas, we're in charge here."

This is exactly what Hunter wanted to avoid, trouble.

"Don't worry, I won't." Hunter tried to walk away but Deralo grabbed him again.

"Also stay away from Edric, I fancy him, and he's mine, so you best stay away if you know what's good for ya." Hunter was confused. Was this Edric's boyfriend?

"Well we share a class, it might be difficult to stay away." Before Hunter could even say anything else he was violently shoved up against the wall.

"Was that a threat!!" Hunter didn't know what to do. He could easily fight back but he didn't want to reveal his ability in hand to hand combat, he could get suspicious. Also Hunter didn't have actual magic to defend himself.

"No i-i, it's wasn't a threat dude, lay off."

Deralo was about to say something, but then his eyes traveled to Hunter's cheek.

"What's with the scar?"

Hunter didn't talk. He didn't know how to answer.

Deralo got angry, "I said what's with the scar." Hunter still didn't answer.

"When I ask you a question I expect an answer, now what's with the scar?" He yelled pulling out a jagged knife and holding it to Hunter's throat.

Now Hunter really had to answer. "It's just something I got one day."

Deralo scoffed. "Well yeah obviously, what's the problem, is it too traumatic to remember, or are ya some kind of soldier, ya look like one, you're all fucked up like one, ya freak."

Those words shouldn't have hurt coming from a punk like him, but they did. Hunter felt a huge pain in his heart, having heard those exact words before. The word freak rang in his head, and he wanted to cry, but he wouldn't not Infront of them.

"I told you last time, when I ask you a question, I expect a fuckin answer!!" He put the knife further to Hunter's throat until it was actually touching enough that a speck of blood shed. Before Hunter could say anything the knife was blasted out his hand and he went flying.

Hunter dropped from the wall and sat on the ground clutching his neck. He looked behind him and there stood Edric, along with the looks of it his twin sister.

"Leave him alone Deralo!" Edric spoke in a deep menacing tone, one that sent shivers down Hunter's spine.

"Edric, baby, I was just letting this little freak know his place, and to stay away from you." Deralo was getting up off the ground after getting blasted by Edric's magic.

"Hunter is not a freak, he's ten times cuter than you could ever hope to be Deralo, also he's actually smart, something you could only dream of, I've only just met Hunter, but he seems perfect to me, he's a great friend, and an even better person." Hunter looked at Edric stunned, nobody had ever said anything so nice to him. This was different then the pining and flirting he gave the Golden Guard, these were just nice meaningful things.

"Come on Edric, you don't wanna hang around with this loser, come back to me baby." Hunter had no idea what Deralo was talking about.

"You missed your chance Deralo, you're a dick so I broke up with you, and in the words of a song Luz showed me one time, we are never ever ever getting back together." Even when referencing human world things Edric still was able to make a great point. At this point Hunter hadn't even realized but Emira was next to him using her healing magic to patch up the small wound on his neck.

"Fine whateva, your loss, come on boys." And with that Deralo and his squad walked away and through the doors of the school.

Edric ran over to Hunter and held out a hand for him. Hunter took it and Edric helped him up.

"Are you ok Hunter?" Edric asked with pleading eyes.

"Y-yeah I'm ok, thanks to you." Hunter smiled small.

"He didn't hurt you did he?" Edric said putting a firm hand on his shoulder.

"No, besides the neck cut, the only pain was phycological, heh." Hunter still couldn't get Deralo's words out of his head, he had only heard them a handful of times but this one particularly stung. Thankfully Edric's words really helped him.

"Don't let him get to you, he's just an idiot, anyways well I'm glad you're ok, here let's go inside." Edric said putting his arm around Hunter's shoulder like last time.

They walked inside but then his sister nudged him a bit.

"Oh shit sorry, Hunter this is my twin sister Emira, and Emira this is the Hunter I was telling you about."

Emira seemed to look Hunter up and down judgingly. "Hmm, your right Edric, he is kinda cute."

Hunter blushed furiously. "Ok Em stop, don't you have a class to get to?"

She snapped right back. "Don't you?"

"Yes well, I'm gonna drop off Blondie at his class first." Edric said winking at Hunter.

"Fine well bye Ed, by Blondie." She said walking off.

Edric called after her. "Hey, only I get to call him that." The two started walking to the potions classroom, Edric still having his arm around Hunter's shoulders.

When they got there Edric finally let go. "Well this is where I leave Blondie, see you next class." He said and started to walk away.

"Edric!" Hunter called.

Edric turned around. "Yeah?"

"Thanks for helping me out."

Edric smiled, "Don't mention it." He finally walked away and Hunter walking into his class.

When Edric got back to his illusions classroom Emira was sitting there smirking. "Well look at you, protecting you're new little boyfriend."

Edric rolled his eyes. "He's not my boyfriend, he's just a friend, besides the boyfriend spot is reserved for the Golden Guard."

Now it was Emira's turn to roll her eyes. "Yup whatever you say Ed."

That's this chapter, I know Deralo isn't a prexisting character, but I needed a bitch that could take the place of Boshca in this situation and be Edric's ex. I really hope you hate him. But I hope you didn't hate this chapter.
