It was a total surprise for Adam to see Maheen on the ground. And it was all the more surprising to see her looking at him, when he turned before finally reaching the field.
"What does she want?" Daniel asked.
"Nothing. We have to prep, she is going to wait for me here." Adam replied very nonchalantly.
"Really?! Is that so? Is Everly aware of this?" Daniel eagerly enquired.
"What has this got anything to do with Everly?" A confused Adam replied.
"Oh no man, really?!" Daniel indicated something which Adam did not catch on to and they all continued playing.
*********
After coming out fresh from the dressing room. Adam met up with Maheen who was very occupied reading.
"Hey!" Adam acknowledged and Maheen raised her head from her book.
"Hey." Maheen replied as she shut her book and kept it inside the bag.
"So where do you want to go?" Adam asked as he saw Maheen stand up.
"Anywhere, but somewhere close to the school itself please, as I need to get home early."
"Umm there is nothing as such near the school. Do you want to sit here?"
"Here? In the stands?" Maheen confirmed.
"Yeah technically this ground is not really a school property, so we are not breaking any rules here." Adam explained the situation to Maheen.
"Okay sure. This suits, I can walk back home also from here." Maheen agreed an mumbled in a low tone, it was perfect for her, as they were in the school premises and yet close to home. She was sure that it won't take up a lot of time to do the prep.
"Walk? You walk to school?" Adam was pretty shocked on hearing that Maheen walked to school.
"Well yea, that's what people usually do when they live close to school and don't have much to spend on transportation. Besides, I like walking." Maheen used her bit of a sarcastic humor to reply to Adam.
Adam could not help but smirk and they sat on the stands itself. Adam sat a step below while Maheen was sitting on a step above, they were nit very far from each other yet not closer.
Maheen thought she wanted to be a bit further away from the guy, while Adam thought he would really like to sit a bit closer to Maheen.
Adam being the rich guy that he was, he pulled out his laptop and Maheen reached out in her bag and pulled out a huge bunch of notes.
"You have handwritten all the notes?" Adam asked Maheen as he saw a bunch of papers on which Maheen had written everything down. "Don't you have a laptop?"
Maheen desperately wanted to say, none of your business, but she stuck to, "I do. I have a monitor at home. We cannot afford a laptop or a printer. And I understand better when I write it by hand. So." As Maheen finished her explanation, she stared into Adam's eyes. For the first time she say a humble guy who cared about others. He was there along probably, but Maheen saw him a bit differently recently.
"You have a nice handwriting though." Adam said with a rather flirtatious smirk. And Maheen could not help but blush a bit on that comment.
