Chapter 11

When Maheen saw Adam the next day, there was some different kind of an energy between them, he was mad at her but yet wanted to talk to her. Adam ignored Maheen and went the other way when he saw her standing talking to her friends. Of course he craved her, but needed some space to cool his head.

Adam realized before anything else, before he could gather up the patience to see Maheen, he needs to make an apology round to Everly. He spotted Everly from a far as she sat alone. She usually did that when she got into a fight at home, she would not talk to anyone, not even Adam. 

Adam, walked up to Everly with an apology gift, her favorite chocolate.

With revealing himself, he put the chocolate in front of Everly. Everly instantly knew who it was because only he knew her favorite chocolate. But she did not budge, he needed to make more effort than that before she would give in. Then cam the ice-cream. And Everly simply could not resist. 

"Okay, Adam. You can come sit here and say what you want to." Everly said as she opened the ice-cream. 

"I am so sorry Everly, I know how I behaved yesterday was very unlike me, but that Maheen girl, brings out a terrible me for some reason. She just gets on my nerves and then I lash out on people, but I still somehow want to get to know her more an-" 

"Are you here to apologize to me or sing praises of Maheen?" Breaking Adam's thought process of Maheen, Everly interrupted. 

"Oh Shi-. No of, course, I am sorry, it was not me yesterday and I will never be that. After this debate is over in a few days, I am cutting all ties with that girl." Adam said adamantly and Everly believed it because usually what Adam once decided he always kept his word. 

The rest of the day seemed to have been going as normal a day as ever. There was not triangular drama that took over others day too. 

When the last period bell rang. Adam was the one who approached Maheen. Still very irritated he said, "Umm, I think we have practiced enough for the debate. We can practice on our own and then meet for the debate day." Without making an effort to hear Maheen, Adam walked away. 

Everly saw the episode, and she concluded that Adam was indeed actually done with Maheen. 

As Adam approached Everly, he said to her, "Umm, why don't you wait in the parking lot, I will be there soon, need to get some things from the locker." 

"Okay, see you there." Everly said and walked away. 

Maheen devastated of what just happened, took a brief moment to register the incident, and as she came into sense, she saw Adam, walking out of the class, she grabbed her things in a hurry and this time she ran behind Adam. 

"Hey, Adam. Can I speak with you?" Maheen said as she reached Adam panting. 

"Yeah, sure I guess." Adam replied completely uninterested.

"I know you are in no mood to listen to me, but I would just like to apologize for how I behaved yesterday." Maheen said with eyes filled with regret. 

Adam avoided looking into her eyes as much as possible, but then he gave in. He saw her big round eyes with perfectly lined out liner giving her eyes an exquisite shape. In all this time her never really saw her eyes so up close, or was it that the light was different, or probably Adam saw her in a different way than he usually did which made her eyes seem more beautiful. He quickly looked down as he noticed himself staring and leaning towards her, and said in a low tone, "I don't know Maheen that was a pretty sensitive acquisition that you made yesterday."
