Matters of the Heart

Chapter 13

Adam came home with a heavy heart, he wanted to let out his feelings, but he couldn't. Disappointed he lay on the bed staring at the ceiling. 

"You lost did you?" Ashley asked as she saw Adam laying in the bed. She came and lied beside him, in support. "It's okay, there is always next time." Ashley continued her reassurance. 

Adam took the trophy from the other side of him and kept on top of Ashley, "We came first." 

Ashley jumped out of the the bed and shouted, "Congratulations! This is so amazing!" She then proceeded to sit beside him and continued in a low tone, "Then what is wrong with you, why are you grumpy?"

Adam, looked at her, took a deep sigh and sat upright, "I wanted to do something but I couldn't and now I feel that I should have done it."

"WHAT!" Ashley was in shock.

"I wanted to tell my feeling to someone, but I kinda chickened out."

"To? Everly? I am so happy that it is finally happening! That girl sure loves you right back. Why weren't you able to say anything to her, you both talk for hours with each other!"

Adam was a bit confused as to what she was talking about, "Wait, hold on your horses! What about Everly now? She is not in love with me, and she was not the girl I was talking about."

"Everybody knows Everly has a thing for you, and which girl are you talking about?"

"That is not true, and I am talking about some girl." Adam layed on his bed again.

"Who is it Adam, you telling me or should I call mom?" Ashley warned him.

"Maheen. The girl I am talking about is Maheen."

"Who that girl who was here the other day?! You like her?" Ashley spoke with stars in her eyes. 

"Yeah."

"Then why the hell did you chicken out? She does not like you?" 

"Frankly, I don't know. We had this amazing kiss the other day and...... ughhh! And then I just couldn't say anything. And I am afraid I won't be able to anymore. That girl's eyes... intimidates me a lot."

"Awwww.. you are such a lover boy. Just go tell her, and we will see from there." Ashley supported Adam in whatever he did. He was her big brother and she always looked up to him. Ashley admired Adam for his courage and conduct and seeing him in such a predicament over something like this, just meant that his intentions were pure and that he really, really liked Maheen, with all his heart. 

"Hey, come on, let's go dinner is ready." Ashley proceeded out of the room to let Adam have some quite time. 

Adam, went on to freshen up and changed his clothes. He kept thinking about what would have happened if he had told Maheen how he felt. His brain started to over think every bit of their interaction and eventually he came to the conclusion that it was best not to tell her, she must not feel the same way. So he left the idea of it for now, and decided to move on, but of course his heart conflicted with his mind and so the debate inside kept going.

As Adam came down the stairs to join his family for dinner, he saw her mom talking to someone. 

"Adam, you never told me Maheen was gonna join us for dinner." Mrs. Richards said as he went to meet Adam at the bottom of the stairs, from the front door. 

Adam saw the most beautiful of the women (except his mother and sister, for him they were the most beautiful) walk in through the main door. And Adam's conflict quickly resolved for a milli second and he just wanted to shout out his feelings on the top of his voice. His eyes grew big and he lost all words.
