chapter 18: reno is very happy

~reno~

If there's one thing I learned from dating Weisz is that he's a very affectionate person. Which is a good thing because as it turns out, I'm a very affectionate person as well. The only downside is sometimes I want to just grab him and kiss him in the middle of class, but I don't think my teacher and classmates would appreciate that.

So I take whatever opportunity I can take to kiss him. During lunch, during our breaks at work, sometimes even during work when the day is slow. I just use an excuse that I need help getting something out of the staff room before I kiss him.

I can't help it. He's the first person I felt this way for in a long time. The first person I'm able to tell how much he means to me. The first person I can see myself falling in love with, if I'm not already in love with him.

Weisz is just an amazing person. Honestly, I can see why so many people at school have a crush on him. It's not surprising at all.

I get to school one morning, immediately heading to Weisz's locker since it's where we normally meet up. The moment he sees me, his cheeks begin to turn a deep shade of red. And he thinks he doesn't have a leather jacket fantasy? "Whoa," he says. "You're so hot in that."

I smile at Weisz. "Why, thank you." I poke his cheek. "You are blushing a lot, though. Are you sure you don't have some fantasy about me in a leather jacket?"

"You know, if you keep that up, the whole school is going to end up talking about it," Weisz says. "I don't have a fantasy, by the way."

"Uh huh," I say. "Sure." I still want to just kiss Weisz, but I probably won't be able to stop when I start, and the last thing anyone needs is to see a couple making out in the hallway. So I think of the best solution. "Wanna skip school to make out?"

"You keep asking that every day," Weisz says. "Unfortunately, my answer is still no. I've told you, my parents won't exactly appreciate me skipping school to go make out with my boyfriend."

"Then don't tell them the true reason. Just say something like someone threatened to fight you if you show up in class today."

"Yeah, I think my parents will just call the school and insist that the person who threatened me get suspended. They're very protective over me. But..." Weisz wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me closer. "I'm free after school if you want to hang out somewhere."

I smile at Weisz. "Sounds like a plan."

Weisz smiles back at me before he kisses my cheek, then pulls me into a hug. Every time I'm in Weisz's arms, I feel extremely relaxed. Comfortable. Like I belong here. I'm so happy Weisz moved here. I wouldn't be as happy as I am right now.

Though, there are some people who don't seem to care about my and Weisz's happiness apparently. Right at the start of lunch, I go to my locker to put my stuff away before meeting up with Weisz. Before I can even leave my locker, Neil walks up to me. "So I have a favour to ask you."

I snort. "Me? Do you a favour? After you lied about the spiked punch? In your dreams."

I turn around to walk off, but Neil grabs my arm roughly to stop me. I yank my arm out of his grasp, but I stupidly turn to face him to see what he wants. "Break up with Weisz," he tells me.

       "Sure," I say sarcastically.

"Really?" Neil asks, somehow not understanding my sarcastic tone. "Wow, that was easy."

"Dude, you can't be serious," I say. "You think I'm going to dump Weisz just because you told me to? I literally don't care about your opinion at all, so I'm not actually going to do that." Part of me is tempted to call him a dumbass to his face, but I have a feeling he'll act like a little kid and 'tattle' on me.

Neil glares at me. "You're going to want to do it or I'm going to make your life a living hell."

Should I play the Dad card? Remind Neil exactly who my dad is to subtly tell him not to threaten me?

Not yet. If Neil keeps this up, then I won't hesitate to.

"And how exactly are you going to make my life a living hell?" I ask. "Frequent at the diner and try to get me fired? Lie to teachers that I spiked the punch? Spread a bunch of rumours about me? You've already been making my life a living hell. I'm pretty sure I can handle whatever else you throw at me."

"We'll see about that," Neil says before he walks off. I don't even know why he wants me to break up with Weisz. They're not friends anymore. He shouldn't care about who Weisz dates.

I walk to the front of the school where Weisz waits for me. The past couple days, we've been spending lunchtime outside of the school. Mostly so we can make out whenever we want without worrying about showing too much PDA. I mean, that's why I want to have lunch outside of school. Not sure about Weisz's reasoning.

Our favourite place to have lunch is the cliffside. No one is ever there, so we have the whole place to ourselves. No one has ever been here while we were.

Once I turn off the car, we grab our lunches to eat. I removed my seat belt to give myself a bit more room. "Guess what Neil told me to do," I say as I unwrap my sandwich.

Weisz is about to bite into his lunch, but he stops. "Neil told you to do something? What?"

"To break up with you." I bite into my sandwich.

       "...Why?"

I shrug. "Beats me. I refused, of course, but he also told me he's going to make my life a living hell, so..." If I had to guess, it's because one of Neil's friends likes Weisz, so Neil wants to help her get with Weisz. If that meant making Weisz unhappy because breaking him up with his current boyfriend, then so be it.

"I still can't believe I was ever friends with him," Weisz says. "At least it was only for a few weeks and not years or something like that. Those friendships are hard to end. Believe me, I know."

"You've had to end a long friendship?"

"Relationship, but yeah," Weisz says. "We were friends first but things got pretty toxic when we started dating because..." He shakes his head, not wanting to tell me the reason. "It was hard ending both my relationship and friendship with her, but I did feel a lot better afterwards. Kind of. It was bittersweet. I had to move here not long after, so that helped too." He leans back in the seat. "It is a good thing we broke up, though. Because I met you. And I'm really happy with you."

I smile at Weisz. "I'm really happy with you, too."
