chapter 55: weisz loves fundraisers

~weisz~

"You know," Reno says after pulling his lips away from mine, though my lips just goes to his neck instead, pressing delicate kisses on it as I squeeze his waist tighter. "We should... We should get back to the, uh... The fundraiser."

I know he's right, especially because we're both scheduled on shifts for whatever our homeroom class planned for the fundraiser. Since we were able to pick our time, Reno and I made sure we were scheduled together so for the rest of the fundraiser, we can hang out together.

Still, I don't stop kissing Reno quite yet. Kissing him is just so addicting.

Unfortunately, my timer goes off on my phone, telling me that I should be heading to my booth. "See?" Reno says. "We need to go."

I pull away from Reno, sighing heavily as I pull him into a hug instead. "But I don't want anyone to auction you off on a date."

"You do realize my class isn't actually doing that, right?" I ask. "I told them no, and my teacher told everyone not to force me into it. We're just doing ring toss or something."

"What if they trick you into it?"

"I don't think they're going to do that. And if they do, I'll get Amelia or someone to bet on me. She'll hand the date over to you."

"Or she'll go on the date just to tease me."

Reno pulls away from the hug and cups my face in his hands. "Weisz, nobody is going to trick me into the auctioned off date. Like I said, my teacher told everyone not to force me into it. She would definitely stop it from happening." He pushes some of my hair away from my face. "What's going on? Are you okay?"

I sigh. "Yeah. Sorry, I'm just... I really don't like the idea of you going on a date with someone else, even if it's an auction."

"I know," Reno says. "That's why I told them that I'm not going to do it." He kisses me. "I'm never going to do anything that hurts you, Weisz. I promise."

I smile softly at Reno and give him a lingering kiss. The two of us leave our hiding spot to get to our respective booths to begin our shifts. My class also decided on a carnival game since the fundraiser is supposed to be like a carnival. The school even rented out some rides like a ferris wheel and spinning teacups.

Reno and I will definitely head on those later. We're just waiting until the end of our shifts to actually explore around the fundraiser since our shifts are near the beginning of it.

I arrive to my class's both after the classmate who's on shift with me; Maureen. She's blowing up some balloons to replace the ones that were popped with the darts. She smiles at me when she sees me, tying up the balloon she just finished. "Hey," she says.

"Hi," I say. "Need help with anything?"

"Yeah, we just need to blow up two more balloons," she says, handing me a red one. "One red and one blue. I'll do the blue one after I'm done hanging this one back up."

I begin to blow up the balloon, but as soon as I finish, I feel too out of breath. Even though my recovery is going well, there are still times when I have a shortness of breath often. Blowing up balloons have always made me feel out of breath and lightheaded, so this is no surprise.

There's a chair behind the booth just in case either of us need to sit, so I sit on it. Maureen looks at me. "You okay?"

"Yeah," I say, still feeling a bit out of breath. "I'm fine, just..." I take a few deep breaths. "Sorry. I get out of breath easily."
