chapter 47: weisz is a himbo
~weisz~
I don't think I've ever seen Reno so... quiet before. Sure, he's not a loud and outgoing person but during lunch, he does converse with our friends. Not today. He's just been quietly eating his lunch, paying no mind to the conversation around him.
I would ask him if he's okay, but I don't think he would appreciate me asking in front of all of our friends. He's a private person. If something's wrong, he would rather not tell a group of people. So I'm going to have to wait until we're on our own to ask him.
"You know what I don't get?" Adam asks as he holds up one of the fries he got from the cafeteria for lunch. "Why the cafeteria doesn't sell curly fries? Who likes straight fries? Not me."
"They taste the same," Jane says.
"It's not about taste," Adam says. "It's about experience. Like dino nuggets. It tastes the same as regular nuggets, but the shape is better."
"I think you're being dramatic," Amelia says.
"And I think you should shut up and let me be upset about the lack of curly fries in peace."
"In peace?" Marcel says. "You shouldn't complain about it in peace. You should create chaos. Let the school know how shameful it is that they don't sell curly fries in the cafeteria."
Amelia looks over at me. "Can you tell them they're being dramatic?"
"I would, but it's hard to change their minds when they have it set on something," I say. Besides, Adam would soon find something different to complain about later on. His mind can't stay focus on something for a long time unless it's basketball related.
Tomorrow, he'd probably end up complaining that school is too long or lunch is too short. He once started a petition to make lunch longer than it currently is. He got a lot of signatures, but it didn't work.
Even though lunch has been peaceful so far, the peace is soon disturbed when Marie decides to walk over to us. "Weisz, we need to talk," she says. "Alone."
I haven't talked to her since I found out she cheated on me, and I have no intention on holding a long conversation with her, especially since I found out she decided to lie to Dave about Reno harassing her. "No."
"You can't say no," Marie says.
"I can and I did," I say. "Besides, whatever you want to say to me, you can say in front of my friends."
"Fine," Marie says. "I just find it absolutely ridiculous how mad you got at me for cheating on you when throughout our entire relationship, you were using me as a beard."
I furrow my eyebrows. "But... Neither of us have beards."
"Oh my word, how stupid can you be?" Marie asks. "You of all people should know what the saying is."
Reno, bless him for being my brains at times, says, "Being someone's beard is to help cover their sexuality. She's basically saying you were using her to hide your sexuality. Even though that's far from the truth."
Marie glares at Reno. "Stay out of this."
Reno rolls his eyes before he takes a bite of his sandwich. He doesn't say anything else, which makes me even more worried that something is going on with him. He doesn't start fights, but he sure as hell finishes them. He wouldn't normally let someone give him attitude and get away with it.
