I stare at my phone in amazement. I actually got Changbin's number. He gave it to me after he told me he'd teach me how to rap. I smile to myself as I walk down the hallway. He's actually really nice. When he got back to his dorm he asked me if I had gotten home alright since it was late. I feel my face burning up. I'm blushing. Felix, don't develop a crush on him. He's straight. As much as you want it, you can't turn every straight man gay. A notification pops up on my phone. It's a text from Changbin. He sent me a location. Oh, it's near the performing arts side of the campus. I guess he wants to teach me today. We didn't really set up a schedule so it's fine. I make my way over. I'm met with a classroom. He's probably finishing up a class. He wanted me to wait for him? Don't couples do that? Should I have brought something? Wait, Felix, you aren't dating. I shake the thought off quickly. Changbin comes out a few minutes later with an apologetic smile. He really is so cute.
"Sorry, he wouldn't let us out," he apologizes.
"No, it's fine. I don't mind waiting," I say in return, offering him a smile. "Though, you didn't give an explanation as to why I'm here."
"Right. I actually have a project I need help with. I thought we could kill two birds with one stone if we did it together. It will help you with rapping and I get a partner to work with."
"Partner, with me? But, you could find someone so much better."
Changbin starts walking so I follow beside him. "You should have more confidence in yourself. You're not bad at rapping, just new. If you work hard, anything is possible."
For some reason I actually believe the words that leave his mouth. Despite only knowing him for less than a day, I want to trust him completely. "What's your project about anyway," I ask.
"I have to write a song for someone and have them perform it for my class. You've done the talent show so I don't think it'll be too difficult."
The only reason why I got through that show was because I had hope that SpearB would like it. I guess if I can sing a song he writes though, it will be worth it. "Do you have any concerts soon?" I ask.
"Every other Saturday, why?"
As we exit the building I let out a light chuckle. "Well, I wanted to hear you rap again," I say honestly.
It goes quiet until I hear Changbin clear his throat. "Then, let's go rap."
I give Changbin a questioning glance but he simply smiles. He takes me to karaoke. He pays for the room and messes around with some of the equipment. I've never actually been to a karaoke, so I don't know what to expect. When I hear a familiar beat, my eyes widen. Holleywood's bleeding. Changbin stands a few feet in front of me, eyes closed as he sings into the microphone. Once again I'm entrapped in the feeling his voice casts on me. He doesn't just sing that one song. He sings a few others. My personal favorites are Prequel by Epik High and Warriors descendent by H.O.T.
Changbin is a bit awkward at first but when he finally gets into it, he is extremely attractive. Seeing this side of him feels weirdly good. Rewarding in a way. I like him a lot. More than I should like a stranger. I offer him a bottle of water when he finishes his fifth song. I don't mind listening. I really like his voice. "Tired of my voice yet?" He jokes.
I shake my head and smile. "I love it even more."
"You're cute," he says with a laugh, taking a sip of his water.
"What?"
Changbin glances my way, his facing turning into an awkward expression. "Sorry, is that too straight forward? I thought I got that vibe from you when we first met. Was I wrong?"
Vibe? What vibe? Wait, is he flirting with me? "Wait, wait," Changbin raises a brow as I speak. "You just called me cute. What kind of way am I cute?"
"There's different ways to be cute?"
"I just mean, do you mean it as a friend?" My question rings out for a second.
Changbin snorts. "Oh, I get it."
"That's not an answer!" I whine.
"Well, I guess I mean it any way you want it to mean."
My heart stops for a split second. A single second where I'm convinced I die and go to heaven. But then I see his red ears and find myself back on earth. "Flirt," I reply. Changbin gives me that confused expression. "I want it to be a flirt." where the hell did I get this confidence?
"Then I'm hitting on you," Changbin says before taking another sip of his water.
"I thought you were straight."
The rapper chokes on his drink, his face making a strained look. I freak out and pat his back, not knowing what else I can do to help. "Who the hell told you that?"
"Minho and Hyunjin. I also just kind of assumed."
Changbin sighs, massaging his throat. "I don't have a preference. I'm not really interested in relationships so I've never mentioned it."
He's not interested in relationships. I feel my confidence deflate. Maybe he notices cause the next thing he says makes me short of breath. "But I'm interested in you."
My face is definitely red. "You're a charmer," I mumble.
"I'm a rapper, I have a way with words, but that's not all there is to it. You caught my attention," Changbin says things like this so easily. Flustering me up isn't a hard task for him.
"Are you interested in me as a person or as a potential rapper?" I'm nervous to hear his response. We barely know each other and here we are, saying things you would say on a blind date.
"Both. Rapping has a lot to do with expression. Teaching you rap will help me get to know you."
Of course his answer is simple like that. I wonder what a date with him would be like. Seeing him rap, I think it would be fun. We don't say anything else. There's a silent understanding between us that we should get to know each other before we move forward. I'm fine with this. After a few more songs we head our separate ways, but Changbin doesn't forget to text me later that night asking if I got home alright. Those small things make my stomach pool with a warm sensation. I think I'm growing a crush on him.
