Matt stood infront of me and Alice was right, he did look different
His hair had grown, he had facial hair , and his eyes were a deep blue color, deeper than I have ever seen before.
"Yasmine, it's so nice to see you again." Matthew smiles at me, making me cower away, he scared me more than anyone in the entire world
He had black suede black pants on and a pure white shirt tucked into his pants, his pure white showed his muscular chest. He defiantly got more powerful looking than I had last seen him, years ago. His pink lips were twisted into a deep smirk, his eyes never leaving me.
"Yasmine, run please don't stay here." Alice grabs my hand, leading me away from Matt
I keep my eyes on him, barely able to walk away
Alice holds on my wrist and starts to run to the doors of the exit of the library, making me run with her
Matt runs after us and wraps his arms around my waist and lifts me away from Alice
I lowly scream from the surprise of how fast he could run, maybe it was because I was in heels. I silently cursed at myself for being so stupid.
"Yasmine!" Alice calls to me as he leads me away
I struggle in his grip and open my mouth to scream, but I suddenly feel a metal sharp object on my neck, Matt held a knife to my neck.
"Someone else screams, goodbye Yasmine." He sneers to us both
Alice's tears run freely down her pink cheeks, not knowing what to do
"Y-you wouldn't kill me, you wouldn't." I struggle as his grip on me tightens
Matt looks down at me and kisses my nose "You're right, I wouldn't. But I would kill her."
I gasp as Matt drops me to the ground and grabs Alice and holds her in his arms
I stand in less than two seconds
"M-matt please, please don't." I beg, tears in my eyes
Alice was only fourteen, and she helped me through everything, she didn't deserve to die. I couldn't let this happen.
Matt chuckles and draws a line on Alice's neck, drawing blood. She closes her eyes and lowly groans from the pain.
"Matt, take me in her place. She doesn't deserve to die. What has she done to you that deserves this?" I start to shake with fear
He smiles at me "She told you things about me, that were personal."
I shake my head "That was all me! I dug up those facts about your family and you! It was me!"
He shakes his head and chuckles "Yasmine, you stupid little girl. I watched you the entire time after my escape. I saw her come into your room and tell you what I was doing. I planned on killing her soon anyways, but now it seems more opportune."
"Matt, what do you want? Tell me anything, just don't-"
I was too late, Matt slashed his knife on Alice's neck, her blood spluttering everywhere. She fell lifeless to the ground, her eyes rolling to the back of her head.
I scream in agony and fall to my knees, screaming so loud I thought I would be deaf.
"Let this be a warning my darling." Matt tells me with a chuckle at the end of his sentence, he runs to the window and climbs down
Just as he leaves, the doors open and in come ten guards, Theo following them
His eyebrows furrowed as he looks at me, then looks at Alice, then back at me
I am still screaming as he takes me into his arms
"Darling, what happened?" He kisses my forehead
Two guards lift Alice's body, ready to throw her out like trash
"Where are you taking her?!" I yell at them
"The graveyard my Queen." Jaden tells me
I shake my head "Leave her."
They both look at Theo
"Leave her!" I scream at them
The both nod and slowly drop her to the floor
I am crying so hard, that my eyes hurt
I crawl over to her cold body and hold her hand
"I am so sorry," I whisper as I taste my salty tears "I am so sorry."
"Yasmine." Theo touches my shoulder
I shake him off of me "Don't touch me."
He sighs and moves away from me as I stare at Alice
Her blood starts to dry up and her hair was over the floor, her eyes closed, and her mouth shut.
I hated to say it, but she finally looked peaceful. At rest, she had nothing to worry about anymore.
But I hated the fact that Matthew could just dance in here and kill an innocent person. I couldn't take this life anymore.
*******
I made sure Alice was buried in the palace's cemetery, she deserved to be remembered as a hero, not just as a teenage girl
I told Theo what had happened and he sent out more soldiers to seek out Matt, but I knew he wouldn't find him.
Matt would keep killing innocent people, and it wouldn't stop.
Theo was downstairs, talking to his advisers on the death of Alice
I stand on the ledge of Theo and I's balcony, outside of our bedroom
I take a step forward, one more step was all it took to end all of this sadness and pain. All the deaths and all the illness, it would stop. I needed to free, I wanted to run with the wind and feel the clouds. I wanted to smell the lilacs and roses. I wanted to touch the blue sky and feel the rain on my skin. I wanted to be happy, I wanted to be invincible. I wanted to be carefree. I wanted to taste the salty ocean and swim freely with the fish.
I felt the breeze run through my hair and my white dress flowed with it. The darkness of the night made my vision hard, but the moonlight helped. I'm sorry Theo, I'm sorry my precious children. I'm sorry father, I'm sorry Kenna, Greer, and Lola. I'm sorry Jack and Dave. But, this decision I had made, I did not regret.
"I would rather die a meaningful death than to live a meaningless life."
I close my eyes and take a step forward
Alice, I'll be joining you soon
