THE HAPPENING(S)
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
(The first sentence is so ironic to my life rn lol, almost jump-scared me.)

Sometimes people break up.

Sometimes those people are the people who seem the most in love. Even if it was only a short amount of time. Time flies by, but the problems people experience in relationships don't drift by so easily. As heart-wrenching as it is, you can't do anything about it. Especially if it's not your relationship to save in the first place.

For some reason... Zephyr Aberra dumped Aria Lafitte. And he wouldn't tell anybody why.

Aria wasn't keen on discussing the break up either. In fact, she snapped at anyone who asked, including Alice.

Alice had tried pushing Zeph too. She couldn't understand how two people who couldn't keep their hands of each other broke up out of nowhere. But at some point, she stopped asking. It was clearly hurting him a lot and she didn't want to make it worse. So instead, she dedicated most of her time to him. She would've tried being there for Aria, but she wouldn't leave her room, nor would she let anyone in who weren't her roommates.

Even then, she sometimes argued with them.

"Who the fuck even eats this shit anyway?" Zephyr distastefully pushed his plate of dinner away.

Alice frowned. Shepherd's Pie was his favourite meal. "Well, it's not like we've got a lot of options..." She was trying to be gentle with him, but he'd been kind of an arse since the breakup.

Since the breakup, Adrian had been again spending more time around them. After all, Zeph was his friend too. And what he had with Alice was a long time ago. It's about time he got over it. Kiara also did her fair share of comforting even though she'd always been mad when Zeph would be knocking on the door at 3 a.m. to get Alice to watch the stars with him.

Usually Alice had already been waiting for him to come knocking.

"There's always dessert!" Kiara pointed out. "Chocolate ice cream!"

Zeph slightly perked up. But then he just put his head down. "I'm not a five-year-old. I don't need fucking ice cream to make me feel better."

Kiara's shoulders dropped and she rubbed her face. Alice rubbed Zeph's arm. "Does someone need a nap-time?"

"Oh, come on." Zephyr covered his face and groaned.

Everyone was silent for a few seconds. Until Zeph started laughing. "That's what I was thinking," Adrian said through a chuckle.

Zeph put his arm around Alice and squeezed her. "Thank you."

Despite his greatest efforts to keep his personality remaining as a sun-dried prune, Zephyr somehow could never be dry around Alice. She was truly his best friend. He loved her. He could never love her more, or less than a best friend. Had he loved Aria more than he loved her?

Lately Zeph had been considering that he didn't love Aria at all. Maybe it was because of their harsh downfall. Or maybe it was the reason for their harsh downfall. Had it been love... or infatuation? Or had it been love but for the wrong person? Who else was there for Zeph to love? He most certainly didn't love Alice in that manner. It will always come down to infatuation with Zephyr. He never fell in love.

It was hard for him to watch Alice fall in love because he wanted to feel what she did. Every time that he saw her coming out of Remus' classroom she was glowing like a Christmas tree. Zephyr wanted to glow too. He wanted to leave his girlfriend's room and be shining brighter than the sun with a smile wider than a mile. That must be what love looks like.
