Act XII
Scene I
[Fade in]
As opening night inched closer and closer, it was time for costumes! A little while back, everyone had sent in their measurements, and today the costumes were finally finished.
"Rainmaker... Prince... Mr. Inference..." Mr. Pessimistic called out, handing the actors their finished costumes.
"Succubus, Succubus' Servant..."
Y/n bolted out of her seat, eager to see her costume. Thanking the teacher before heading off to the bathroom, her eyes glistened. Edgar was trailing behind her.
"Wanna see my costume after I put it on?" Y/n turned to Edgar as she started walking backwards.
"S-Sure," a flustered Edgar nodded. "You can see mine, too... But it's really just a plain white suit."
Y/n squealed inside of her head. Edgar in a suit? She was trying to deny the fact that she liked him, but she couldn't resist seeing him in a white suit!
"I'm sure it'll look great! Meet me outside of the bathroom when you're done!" Y/n smiled and skipped into the girls' restroom.
Slipping into her costume, the cool, silky material was heavenly. Y/n's idea of a "costume" before this was a scratchy piece of fabric. At least that's what it was like in elementary and middle school, although an elementary school would spend a lot less money on a costume than a high school famous for it's theater would.
The costume was a torn bridal dress adorned with roses. A veil was also present, purple flowers on top of transparent fabric.
Looking in the mirror, Y/n was in awe. It was a beautiful costume! She gave it a twirl and the dress flew out, the veil following in action and trailing behind her. It also fit nicely, not too loose but also not too snug.
Meanwhile, Edgar was sporting a white top hat with a purple sash and a white suit with roses attached to it. He grabbed the covering the suit was in and exited the bathroom, almost stumbling into Y/n, who he could barely tell was her.
"E-Edgar!" Y/n caught his attention, "Do you like my costume?"
A faint blush spread across the male's cheeks, "Y-yeah. It looks nice on you. How... how about mine?"
"It looks good," Y/n managed out. They were both pretty flustered, so Edgar started walking back toward the auditorium, Y/n following behind.
Vera, dressed in a traditional dress and a tate-eboshi hat, spotted the two.
"You guys look great! Imagine how pretty you'll be with, like, makeup on!" she exclaimed.
"Yeah. You look great as well, it really suits you!" Y/n showered Vera in compliments as Edgar stood there.
"I love the suit, Edgar! You and Y/n look like you're, like, made for each other!"
The comment caused both Y/n and Edgar to blush. Did she mean the roles, or even more than that?
"T-Thanks. You look good, too," Edgar stammered. Y/n hurried off to God knows where, embarrassed by Vera's comment.

"Which button do I press?!" Y/n trembled, a soundboard in front of her. Since her and Edgar were managing the light and sound for their drama project, they had to learn how to use it first.
"What makes you think I know?!" Edgar argued. The two were having a quarrel over this, while Tracy and Luca were trying to act out their lines.
"Which slider turns up the volume?" Y/n tapped Edgar's shoulder.
"..."

Tracy and Luca stood there, staring at each other.
"What were my lines, again?" Luca laughed nervously.
"The script is in your hands."
"It is?" Luca's eyes trailed to his hands. "Oh. It is."
Tracy cleared her throat after looking at her script, "I... What were my lines, again?"
This was going absolutely nowhere.

"So, how is the project going along?" Pessimistic asked the group while they were in theater class.
They all glanced at each other and gulped, "Absolutely terrible."
"Oh? Is that so? Is it possible for me to help?" the teacher looked surprised, usually the students who were in the play did good on this project.
"The thing is..." Y/n started, "We switched roles. Instead of me and Edgar acting, we're on light and sound. Tracy and Luca are acting."
Pessimistic looked at these students, commending them inside of his head for trying something new, but also screaming at them, also in his head, unless he wanted to be fired from his job, because they were on the road to getting an F in his class.
"I see... Do you want to practice after school today? I'll permit you to use the auditorium for another hour after school gets out," Pessimistic offered.
Everyone's eyes lit up, "Yes please!"
Pessimistic chuckled at their enthusiasm, "Alright. Just try not to break anything, I'm trusting you guys."
"We won't!" Tracy said.
