Kim's POV
I walked into the house with the last of my bag and closed the door behind me.
"Kim?" I heard Anna calling me from the living room followed by heavy footsteps that sounded like someone running. I giggled and she appeared looking really happy. "Kim!" She rushed to give me a hug.
"Hey Anna." She pulled back smiling.
"I missed you so much." I smiled again.
"I missed you too. Where is everyone?" I started walking towards the living room.
"They were waiting for you but then they fell asleep and they decided to go to bed since the couch isn't comfortable." We both giggled. It was just after midnight.
"My flight got delayed, I'm sorry." We sat down.
"It's okay. I'm just happy you're back home." She smiled.
"Me too." I said truthfully. We sat in a comfortable silence until she spoke again.
"Kim can I ask you something?" I nodded.
"Yeah sure."
"Dad said you are coming back for good now, is it true?" I chuckled looking at my suitcases by the door.
"Yes but I am not going to be living with you guys because I am going back to the city on Sunday. He just meant I am back in the states." She nodded.
"Can I ask why? I thought you loved London."
"I did, except for the weather." I chuckled. "I got transferred to New York so that's why." She nodded. "I start on Monday."
"Oh that must be awesome." I smiled.
"Well not really." I mumbled to myself but she heard me.
"Really?" She asked and I faked a smile.
"I just miss London already." I lied and she chuckled.
"I understand."
Of course I was going to miss London since I had been there for more than five years but it was not the reason I wasn't excited to be back in New York. I had a lot of bad memories about the place so I didn't want to go back to the one place where everyone I once decided to be away from was.
"Um I think I'll go to my room, I am tired." I said and she nodded. We both got up so she could help me with my bags.
Upon reaching my room, I was surprised it was still the same. Just like it had been since I was a teenager. I smiled when all the memories of my teenage years in this room flooded my mind. I went into my closet and my clothes still hung the way I left them last Christmas. I chuckled before turning to Anna.
"Don't you guys enter here when I'm not around?" She smiled.
"I sometimes sleep here when I miss you but I promise, I don't mess with your stuff." I giggled shaking my head.
"Honestly I don't mind. If there's anything you like here and I'm not around, you can use it or take it." I said and she gasped.
"Really?" I nodded.
"Yeah, I'm even surprised I haven't said this before." I said then placed my purse on the bed before taking my shoes off.
"Thank you Kimberly."
"You're welcome." I sighed. "I think I'll take a shower before bed okay?" She nodded.
"Okay, goodnight."
"Goodnight." I said and she closed the door after disappeared.
.....
My phone buzzed waking me up from my sleep. I groaned and took it and answered without even looking at the caller.
"Hello."
"Good morning Kim." I shot my eyes open.
"Elaine?" I sat straight on the bed while she giggled. Even after so many years I can never forget her annoying chirpy voice.
"I must say I'm surprised you still recognise my voice." I rolled my eyes.
"I thought you were happy when I left the hotel, what do you want now?" She sighed.
"You will never change Kim." I could imagine her rolling her eyes. "Logan heard you were back."
"And?" Obviously he knew since I used his jet and we still kept in contact. Honestly he was a much better friend than a husband......or maybe I should say fake husband.
"He also heard about your new job and that you're looking for a place to stay so now I have to do that for you. Honestly Kim I thought I was done with having to deal with you but you just chose to come back to make my job harder didn't you?" I rolled my eyes for the hundredth time. "I don't even get why Logan loves you so much."
"The sooner you start to realize he doesn't love me the better for you. You're his PA, I thought you knew he has a wife and a child." She chuckled.
"Who doesn't?"
"Exactly." I sighed. "Listen, I have a place to stay so relax, no need to stress yourself in finding me an apartment."
"He won't allow me to do that. If you have any good left in you please just make things easier for me and tell me what kind of apartment you'd like. Don't be so stubborn like you usually are."
"Elaine just tell Logan I found a place to stay. He...." I sighed realizing maybe he really won't listen to her. "You know what, I'll tell him myself." I hung up before she could protest. "So much for trying to be away from Logan and his annoying PA." I groaned and laid back down facing the cream white ceiling.
Why was Logan still treating me like his fake wife? I never asked for anything from him but he always made sure to do everything for me. I thought going to London would make him forget about me so I could move on in peace but he didn't, he still kept in touch. At least not in a violent way but a more good way I guess since he genuinely changed.
I got up to brush my teeth and wash my face. After doing that I took my phone and just stared at it trying to decide if I should really call him.
Why do I even have to tell him not to bother? If he knows everything happening in my life he probably knows I have a place already. Not fancy but also not cheap. Point is I could take care of myself and he needed to finally get that I'm a grown woman. I nodded and then decided to just send a text instead.
Me: Don't bother with the apartment, I already have a place to stay. Thanks though.
I threw my phone on the bed and then decided to head down for breakfast.
