Kim's POV

Days went by and I still didn't see any sign of Lorena. She wasn't even coming at night anymore. I found myself waiting up for her at night not even knowing why.

It's not like we were together or something right?

Why am I so worried about her? She's a grown ass woman.

At the office she also never came. Her uncle came instead. Well it was my first time seeing the old man unlike my colleagues who did.

I took it upon myself to stalk Lorena on her Instagram on the third day of her disappearing. I found nothing though, just old pictures of herself two days before I last saw her.

"Are you ready?" Laura asked putting on her earrings. She wore a tight short nude dress with black red bottom heels.

"For what?" I asked and she gave me a confused look immediately. She noticed my clothing.

"Kim you're still not dressed?" She asked in disbelief. I sighed.

"I told you I don't feel like going out." I stared back at the TV.

"Why not?"

"I just don't feel like it."

"Come on Kimberly, it'll be fun. I already promised my friends I'll come with you." She begged.

"Why did you even do that?"

"I know I should have asked you first but I thought you wouldn't mind. Please just put something on. It's just a few drinks nothing too wild." I looked at her.

"I won't be good company. I'll probably kill the vibe." She chuckled.

"Stop being like that. Come on it'll be good for you to forget about Lorena Yearwood for a few hours." I frowned.

"What do you mean?" She rolled her eyes.

"I know you two have something going on. Ever since she stopped coming here you've been miserable."

"That's not true." I told her.

"Oh really?" She gave me the 'i'm not stupid' look. "Don't think I didn't see the hickeys on your neck the following morning after I met her." My eyes widened.

"What hickeys?" She laughed.

"You didn't hide them well enough sis." She said.

"You're just being silly, I don't know what you're talking about. Lorena didn't do that."

"I saw you walk out of her room that very same night Kim." I facepalmed.

"Geez! Weren't you supposed to be in your room?" I asked.

"I was coming from the kitchen to grab some water." She laughed again. "So are you going to tell me what's going on between you two?" I shook my head.

"It's complicated and honestly, nothing is going on between us." She gave me a look. "It was just one night of me not thinking straight." I said getting up.

"Not thinking straight? Sis have you looked at that woman? She's freaking sexy." I smiled walking to my room with her trailing behind.

"Yeah actually I have looked at her." I said.

"Then why would you say you weren't thinking straight? If you ask me I think this is the most clearer you've ever thought." I laughed shaking my head.

"Why? Because she's sexy?" I asked.

"And she's loaded." I turned to look at her.

"And? I am well off myself remember?" She nodded.

"Of course but she's a billionaire. Who doesn't want to be with a billionaire?" I rolled my eyes and continued walking. "She also cares for you."

"You've only met her once, how would you know that?" I asked opening the door to my room.

"She almost ripped my head off because she thought I was an intruder in your house. That's caring to me." I smiled again.

"Maybe she's like that with everyone else." I told her.

"Okay maybe but you know deep down there's something between you two." I chuckled.

"Just drop it Laura." I said.

"Fine." She said. "Should I help you with an outfit? We're running late already." I nodded and she dragged me to my closet.

.....

Lorena's POV

"Boss someone here wants to see you." I looked up from my computer to see Daniel.

"Who?" I asked curiously.

"Mr Lord." My eyes widened.

"Are you serious?" I asked getting up from my seat.

For almost a week now I had been searching for my grandparents or traces of my family from my mother's side but still no luck. My PI only found an old house which was still occupied but the people living in my grandparents' house refused to talk immediately I told them who I was.

One would say they were scared of something and I couldn't help but wonder what.

For days I've been begging them to say anything, offered them money, a new house, everything a rich person could think of but they still wouldn't talk.

Flashback

"Sir I'm begging you, I need to find out where my grandparents are. If they are even still alive or just anyone of my family members." I pleaded to the grey haired man.

"I already told you, I don't know who you want. Please leave us in peace."

"Sir please hear me out. I can do anything for you and your family. I know your daughter is working two jobs to pay the bills of this family, she dropped out of college to cater for this family. Listen, I can help put her back to school and help you and your wife get back that diner you sold to pay your mortgage." He looked at me shocked.

"How dare you?" I looked at him surprised. "How dare you?! Listen here you little brat! I will never accept anything you people have to offer. I would rather die in poverty than to accept your dirty money!!" He then slammed the door in my face.

End of flashback

For days I've been thinking about the old man's words.

He knows something I don't.

His choice of words wasn't something to be taken lightly. He spat with so much anger for someone he didn't know.

"Boss?" I looked at Daniel. "Are you okay?" I nodded.

"Yeah sure, where is he?" I asked.

"In the lobby." I nodded fixing my suit. "He talked to the lady at the front desk about seeing you and the lady called me as per my instruction whenever someone was here to see you." I nodded again.

When Danny said Mr Lord I immediately thought of my grandfather. My mother's last name was Lord, something my PI digged and found in hospital records. Her parents address was also in the hospital records. Almost thirty years later, I understood why they no longer lived at the same address.

I didn't know yet if she had siblings or cousins but I now knew I was her only child through the same records.

Father hadn't been answering all my questions blaming it on age and forgetting most things but I knew my father too well to believe that, because he was so smart and his brain still worked perfectly. I knew he deliberately didn't wanna tell me what I wanted to know. I guess because he didn't support me finding another family.

'It wouldn't look good to the public.'

I didn't care anymore about reputation. I needed to find my roots and that was it. If people wanted to gossip about how I was born then let them.

"Okay, let's go." I told Danny after grabbing my phone.
