11: Lupin's Offer

The gardens of Prince Manor were orderly and beautiful like any stuffy rich person's gardens, but Harry couldn't focus on that at the present time. Hermione literally let that slimy, greasy git kiss her with tongue and everything! Gross! He had a feeling he was being followed, but didn't care at this point. All he wanted was to be left alone so that he could focus on Dumbledore's horcrux mission. He had wanted to bring Hermione in on his mission, but no, even as much as he didn't like Severus Snape, she wouldn't be able to apparate soon being pregnant. A miscarriage for his sake wouldn't sit right with him.

Ron tried to play peacemaker, so did the other Weasleys, but Malfoy had to run his mouth like always, and Ron had to stop him from decking the spoiled git that was Draco Malfoy.

He found himself on a bench somewhere around the wisteria trees, and that was when he noticed Remus Lupin approach him.

"May I sit?"
"Sure. It's not my bench, though."

Remus looked up at the moon for a bit before speaking. "Harry, I want to come with you on your mission. And...I want to make you an offer I made to your dad once, but he had your mum to think of, and didn't take me up on it."

What offer? Sirius never told him about any offers made between his dad and his gang of friends. "You shouldn't leave Tonks. You're married, and she said in her last owl post she was pregnant."

Remus sighed, "I'm not. I explained my offer to her, and she is happy I am making it to you because she knows of werewolf hierarchy."

"What does this have to do with my mission? Dumbledore entrusted it to me, and maybe Ron Weasley," Harry explained.

Remus looked him over, and explained, "Dora knows I like wizards as well as witches. I never was that way with my friends, but your mum even made the generous offer to share James if she wasn't occupied with Sirius and him, that was."

Harry's heart skipped a beat. "Wait, you mean...Sirius and dad were with my mum? Wow, that's...a bit much. I mean, it's cool you're into both, man, but what's the offer?"

Remus looked him in the eye, and a hint of yellow flashed in his eyes for a split second. "I need to pass on the legacy of my clan, Harry. Greyback did it to me out of spite, and violence when I was a child. But with you, I would bite you gently, and I would teach you everything you need to know as my beta. Fenrir is still the Alpha, but it was hinted at the last gathering that I needed to find a beta."

Harry blushed. "And we don't have to...um, you know?"

Lupin laughed. "No. Not unless you want to, of course. The clan didn't like that I chose a mere witch as my mate, saying that a werewolf would have been more proper, but what's done is done."

For the first time since coming here, Harry felt happy, "I guess so. I do love Ginny though. I broke up with her as I was healing up from the Halloween battle to protect her, but I am just...kinda scared she won't want to be serious when I could die from deatheater goons at any time. Would she accept me if I had a furry problem? I'm more worried about that than having to drink wolfsbane potion every month."

Remus patted his hand. "Harry, I am only making the offer. You don't have to accept it, but there are advantages werewolves have that ordinary wizards don't like greater strength and heightened senses. Like, I knew when Severus and Hermione returned from their....recess, that they were just intimate."

Harry winced. "Eww. Nope, nope, not gonna think of her being with him like that."

Remus laughed again, more heartily this time, "Actually, I kind of see how a girl like Hermione would want a wizard like him. They're both academically driven, and intellectual, and she strikes me as a witch who didn't want immature boys as potential mates."
