Ginny

The Burrow used to be Ginny's sanctuary away from school, but now she felt like an utter and complete failure. Her brothers had their girlfriends, and even her eldest brother Bill had someone, even if she was blonde, pretty, and looked down her perfect nose at the state of the family home.

She hated everyone, even Hermione Granger, oh, sorry Prince! Yep, one must not forget that tidbit of information; it was so like her to take her playing teacher's pet to a whole new level, and marry the only Hogwarts Professor young enough to be appealing on every level. Granted, Professor Snape would never be her type personally, but geez, that must have been awful to get knocked up by the guy, and being forced to share his bed for life.

Then there was Harry Potter. Harry Potter who had been her Prince Charming for years because he had saved her life from Voldemort once. She had only been eleven at the time, but she didn't fail to notice how cute Tom Riddle used to be. Were all good looking wizards secretly deranged weirdos? Gay? Or halfway gay like Harry turned out to be? She honestly did not know. The weirdest part of that whole Voldemort possession thing was that in a big way she understood him, and if he weren't such an evil asshole, well...yeah, she might be interested in him if he didn't look like a pale red eyed snake monster...

She distracted herself with the Christmas preparations by helping her mum in the kitchen. Thank goodness, Miss Phlegm wasn't around to prattle on and on about how sexy Bill was, or how she was planning her wedding in that irritating breathy French accent of hers. Mum worked silently beside her, and kept staring at her still flat stomach as if there was something wrong with her.

Finally, when Ginny put the stuffed Christmas ham into the oven, she washed and dried her hands, and turned to her mother, "What is it, mum? I know that look: you're about to lecture me for something I had zero control over."

Her mum brushed her hair out of her face, and had the decency to look ashamed at least. "Ginny, I'm sorry. I know I flew off the handle when I saw you with Harry, but...I just, well, didn't think that he would treat you as he did. Or that Remus would have done what he did. I suppose I am wondering how you aren't pregnant from those two boys going at you like you said that they did."

Ginny fought back her tears. "Well, they did. Tonks has like zero issue with it, even though it's weird. But hey, she's off servicing both my husband and hers, so hey why should it bother her? It's pretty bizarre that out of the two marriages that have happened, Hermione Granger gets knocked up out of the blue, but hey, she's just as happy as a clam when her husband's a damn card carrying deatheater. Oh, and I didn't want kids right away, so I kept taking the muggle birth control pills because I didn't think it was such a big deal, so that answers your question, I guess."

Mum laid a hand on her back, and rubbed it as she used to do when she was little. "Aw, come here, dear."

Ginny didn't want to be hugged, but she gave in, because she could never stay mad at her mother forever. Dad arrived from work, and he had a sealed envelope in his hand that made his face red with anger.

"I can't believe that boy would do this!"

"What happened Arthur, what's wrong? You're starting to worry me."

Dad opened it, and of course, it was just as Ginny had expected: her divorce papers. Harry had enclosed a generous Gringotts bank note, but it was nothing more or less than she was owed. Ginny stared at the legal document like it was a foreign appendage. Ron came downstairs after leaving his girlfriend Lavender upstairs, and he read it.

His face was just as shocked. "Oh, Gin.' I...I'm so sorry. If he were here I'd totally kick Harry's ass for you."

Dad sighed heavily, "You could contest this, Ginbear. He did leave you for someone else, but--"
