A week before Thanksgiving, I was finally able to get an appointment with a muggle doctor. A week after making the Blood Legacy potion as the text books called it, I went to my first check up at St Mungos, and she had suggested that because of the war, it was best to have a muggle doctor, just in case things went sideways, and I couldn't get in to St Mungos.
I took them up on that suggestion, and Severus shrugged his shoulders, "At the very least, I won't have to de age myself to attend these appointments among the muggles."
I chuckled, tying into my eggs, which I thankfully drank my anti nauseam potion before smelling them, or otherwise, the smell would have made me sick, "That's true. I think it's silly that you have to hide yourself, just because the Ministry of Magic decided to make you Headmaster of Hogwarts."
Severus dabbed at his lips with his cloth napkin. "I agree. But then again, I do not mind this bit of skullduggery if I can imagine what this would be like if I were that youthful age again."
I smiled. "You look handsome either way."
"I believe your delicate condition has weakened your eyesight, witch, for that cannot be true," He teased.
I tossed a grape at him. It bounced off his chest, and a wry smile wreathed his lips. "Oh, stop. Must you always downplay your looks?"
He grinned. "You like my humor."
"I like other things as well."
He winked. "Yes, I'm aware, or where did these twins of ours come from?"
"The stork in fairy tales."
"Ah yes, quite. When is your appointment?"
"Tempus, doctor's appointment," I cast with my wand. The spell put the time at 9:30. I ended the spell, and put my wand back in my wand holster. "We have time to eat, and that's about it."
"Then let us make haste."
"Agreed."
We finished breakfast, and we changed into casual muggle worthy clothes, only Severus looked like a casual teacher who had a darker take on educator couture. For myself, I chose dark blue jeans, ballet flats, a nice dark red chenille sweater over a light cotton tank top, and a brown suade jacket with lamb's wool as the lining. I put on some makeup, left my hair down, and put on my favorite perfume.
I met my husband at the living room fireplace, and frowned, "I really wish I could apparate instead of us taking a cab from the Leaky Cauldron."
"Driving the muggle way would take more time than we have. You did want to go this route, remember?" He kissed my cheek.
"Yes, but only at Healer Betty's suggestion," I reminded him. "She told me many pregnant witches are masquerading as muggles because of the demands of the war on St Mungos already."
"Ah. Well, let us go cosplay then."
"Yes, let's."
I tossed in some floo powder, and shouted out my destination. We held hands as the floo network transported us to the Leaky Cauldron. We paid the small transport fee, and I hailed a cab.
"Wentworth Hospital, please," I announced to the driver once he asked us where we were going.
"He don't talk much, your man?"
"Should I?" Severus inquired.
The driver shrugged his beefy shoulders, and put on NPR radio and drove us to the business district of London, and dropped us off at the front door.
I hated the sterile clinical aspect of being in a hospital already. Even when I checked in under my married name, and was shown to where the maternity ward was, I found it terrible that millions of humans would willingly choose to give birth in such an impersonal space. There were about ten heavily pregnant women, but only about two of them had their significant others with them.
