At Lindsey's, Stevie brought her bags in with the help of him, but not much considering his being was stronger than hers; Lindsey in Stevie's body was a bit different since he was used to grabbing everything for her but he couldn't since he was her.
"This is weird; I've never not been able to get the heavy bags for you..." as he brought her purse and toiletry bag.
"Weird for you? You were just talking about me being a diva and I didn't say you were wrong. I've never had to get my own bags," she sighed, settling them down. "I'm not that useless, but I prefer to let you struggle."
"That's kind of you..." he mumbled, taking a seat on the couch.
"So, this is your place?" she smirked, once again settling her hand on her hip, the sass of herself forming through him.
He was not sassy, not like her. Plain and simple.
"Yeah... You've never been here before," he assured.
"Well, not before this morning at least..." she smirked.
"True..." he agreed. "So what do you think?"
"Well, you know modern isn't really my taste, and considering, I'm sure, Lauren designed this place, it is pretty you. That modern touch, although is you, the function I can see is not... Your studio however..."
"Yeah, very me," he answered.
"Well, it is... But it's also very me. You have the studio set up almost as I do."
"We were together for twenty-three years and married for twenty of those... What can I say? You rubbed off on me."
She stayed quiet because it was true for both of them; they rubbed off on a each other a lot and they still did things the same way.
"You still do... And worse, I am you so I can't really get away now."
"Yeah, we gotta figure out what we're gonna do. We have to figure out the cause..."
"Just a shot in the dark but maybe because of our relationship... We get along when it's convenient, other than that, everything is a fight..."
"No, it isn't," she crossed her arms.
He arched a brow, looking at her because of course she was going to argue the difference.
"It isn't that... Believe me."
"Stevie, you're arguing with me right now. Normally what you say goes, but considering the circumstances, I need a shot here. I'm telling you, I'm pretty sure this is what the problem is."
"And if it isn't?" she shifted her weight to one side.
Lindsey almost smirked because he couldn't believe how flamboyant she was making him look by her simple poses and motions.
"Alright, obviously you're not that worried otherwise you wouldn't keep on laughing..."
"I'm just as worried as you are. But this is ridiculous. I don't even know what we're supposed to do..."
"Like I do... I'm stressed. The kids are gonna freak out if they find out. Not to mention, Melinda and Samuel's wedding is just in a few days. There's gotta be something we can do." It was easy for her to start pacing back and forth.
"Look, this might wear off soon. Whatever it is that is happening... but like earlier, we need to agree to disagree; we need to have each other's backs. We can't start fighting about bullshit."
She nodded. "So, let's put our thinking cap on..."
He agreed with a nod as well.
But really, there was nowhere to start; what really were they supposed to do other than go about life.
