"How?" Drusilla asked, ever so stunned the minute the words left her mother's mouth.
The couple kind of squinted at her, wondering how she could have asked that.
"Shut up, you know how," Melinda whacked her. "When, is the real question and how far along are you? Since when...?"
"Yeah, all that..." Drusilla followed up.
"To tell you the truth we've kind of hoped to avoid, we kind of had a..." Lindsey lingered, looking at his youngest daughter, unsure of what to say.
"We kind of had a moment a few months back," Stevie assured. "And nothing came from that but we did kind of meet again and well... I'm tryna make this sound better and it's not working..."
"It's not," Melinda shook her head in agreement.
"Either way, we've spent a lot of time together due to the wedding and we've just been happy together," she assured.
"And Wren, I want you to know that I will always love your mom for bringing you into my life," Lindsey explained. "But the truth is, the true love of my life, other than you three girls, is Stevie. And before you were born, we were together for a long time."
"Yeah, I know, my mom told me. I'm not mad that you and mom divorced... I'm really excited to be with you and Stevie and with my sisters and I'm excited to be a big sister," she assured.
"That's great," he patted her knee.
"I'm really glad you're happy to be here with me... I know I'm not your mom, but I have always thought of you as one of my girls," she winked at her.
She ran right over in order to hug the blonde tightly. Pulling away, she walked over to peck cheeks with her father. "I'm gonna go call all my friends!"
As soon as the young gal disappeared, Melinda stood up. "So, what I'm hearing is an affair... You have feelings for each other all of the sudden and a new baby to pair with that..."
"Yes."
"Oh, but who cares?" Drusilla got up and she hugged her parents. "I'm happy for you guys."
"Thank you, sweetheart," they said at the same time.
"You're welcome. Guess it is a good thing I'm going back to England. You're gonna need to use my room as a nursery," she winked. "I have to go get James from the airport, I love you... and I love you less, sister."
"Dru..." both parents lingered.
"I could give a shit, but as it should be," Melinda assured.
Drusilla rolled her eyes with a smirk and a wave as she walked out the front door.
Stevie then looked over, taking in her daughter. "You seem like you have a lot on your mind about all of this..."
"Yes and no... I mean, I'm happy for you guys, yes. But where is this sudden relationship from?" she crossed her arms, dropping back down to her seat on the couch. "Or have I really been that oblivious? I thought my mom had a boyfriend and my dad was married..."
"It's not sudden. We've loved each other since day one," Lindsey assured. "And by day one, I literally mean, when we met in high school."
"It's true. Despite what has happened, I never stopped loving your father..."
She creased her brow, unsure of what to think but she didn't really have much say in the matter when she had her own life to live.
"How far along are you, mom?"
"Twelve weeks..." she claimed. "The funny thing is that, when Dru was taking her pregnancy test, your Aunt Lori found mine," she kind of smirked. "I was so stunned and I couldn't believe it was actually accurate and so I booked an appointment to see a doctor after your wedding... Between me taking that test and Monday, Lindsey and I have just gotten even closer and we've been able to talk a lot of things out."
