It was as though the ex-married couple put out their anger and joined forces for the rest of the evening in order to get through the rest of the rehearsal dinner.
Since the slight falling out between the couple, between the girls and everything else; it was rather demure and everybody just slipped into the crevice of the wedding in which they belonged. And that was very difficult for Stevie and Lindsey as their roles were reversed for the evening.
"I would really like to switch bodies now, babe..." Lindsey assured. "This is tiring."
"I know," she mumbled, sitting down next to him.
"You need to take B-twelve or something... Are you always this tired?" he yawned, struggling to keep his eyes open. "I mean, I'm not joking. Today, we didn't do much and you did the drinking with my body."
"Well, no... In the last couple of weeks it's only been getting worse. I've been losing sleep over all of this."
"It's not healthy... The way you can go days without sleeping and then suddenly sleep like the dead..."
She nodded in agreement. "You didn't drink too much, right?"
"No, I had the same one glass of wine and I didn't even finish it. I thought I was in the mood for it but I guess your body was not. Also, I did do you a favor and drank some water for you..."
She smirked, knowing well she could never sit a drink water like a normal person; it always had to be in the form of tea or coffee.
"You're very dehydrated which explains the headaches."
"What are you, a doctor?"
"I mean, my parents wanted me to be," he joked. "But I do know a thing or two and you need some good old H-two-O."
"I agree... But coffee is just so much better."
"It would help your vocals if you quit with the coffee..."
"Yeah-yeah, I know... So, anyway, what's the plan after all of this? How are we supposed to get through all of this? The wedding is at noon tomorrow and we're still stuck like this..."
"I dunno," he sighed. "I don't know what we're missing, Steph."
"I don't know either, but this is truly not gonna end well. Charles is supposed to be here tomorrow morning. I'm supposed to pick him up from the airport."
"Well, can't you have Karen do it? I know you gave her the week off but she's coming anyway for tomorrow... What's one favor?"
"I guess you're right..." she sighed. "Lindsey, what if we're stuck like this forever? What are we supposed to do?"
"Okay, calm down. Don't panic. And don't be upset with me for not panicking because I don't know what's gonna happen either. We've made it this far."
"A day and a half... Look at us," she rolled her eyes, slamming her head into her hand.
"Look, we'll talk about things when we get home. Let's let them wrap up this part of the rehearsal and we'll go."
"Okay," she nodded.
After about another hour of getting through the rehearsal, Samuel and Melinda decided that it was time they sent their friends home because they did have an early morning the following day. They didn't want the people in their wedding to be tired when so many blood, sweat and tears were already contributed enough.
"Mom, do you want us to drive you home?" Melinda approached her mother and father.
"Uh, no... Sweetheart, thanks. I came with your dad and I don't wanna leave him hanging..."
