Later that evening, Stevie and Lindsey would make their way back to her house in order for her to get Lindsey ready for the rehearsal dinner and whatever news it was that Drusilla was going to have for them.
Lindsey had been a mess since Drusilla had stopped by, and he was even more bothered by the fact that his ex-wife had pregnancy tests at the ready, like she knew that sort of thing would be happening.
As a mother, Stevie was always prepared but as a woman who hadn't yet hit menopause and was sleeping with a man, she was just cautious like any woman should have been, plain and simple.
If she would have been in her own body, the person her daughter came to, she wouldn't have been worried the way Lindsey was. She would have been the one to hold her hand through it all and be a friend and mother, not a judge of character when she had surely been in her teens and early twenties before.
"Doesn't look like anybody's home except for Dru," Lindsey assured as he unhooked his seatbelt.
"Good... Now look, I need you to be calm. Whatever happens with Dru, I need you to be open minded," she settled her hand over his... or his over hers and tried her best to be reassuring.
He rolled his eyes.
"You and I both know what it's like to be young and in love... You can't tell me it hasn't crossed your mind that Dru's been sexually active?"
"Do you have to say that?" he cringed.
"Don't be a baby... Look, just act like me. Whatever happens, okay?"
"Sure..."
They then hopped off the car and ventured into the house, checking to see if anybody was home and though they thought Drusilla was, it didn't seemed like she wasn't; it was far too quiet.
"Maybe the kids took off in one car...?" Stevie suggested.
"Maybe..." he agreed.
"Well, let's go ahead and get ya ready so we can try and go over how things will tonight."
"Sounds good."
Stevie raced up the staircase with Lindsey on her trail, moving at a slower pace in order to get to the bedroom.
From there, they began their process of makeup, hair and clothing which was easy much to their dismay since Stevie already had a dress for the rehearsal dinner prepared.
After dusting some blush onto her face, Stevie walked over to pick up the soft bristled brush and started combing out she ringlets she had done.
"It's a whole lot easier doing my hair from another person's point of view..." she commented.
Lindsey chuckled. "You look great..." he smirked.
"We don't look too bad... Just like the old days, we clean up nice."
"Yeah, we do. I love this..."
"What's that?" she wondered.
"It's been so many years since we've gotten ready together and although circumstances are dim and not what I would have expected, it's still nice."
Stevie went quiet.
"I know you miss me, Stevie, I dunno why you fight me so hard."
"I don't want to talk about this... We are the least of our problems, don't you think?"
"Considering we're trapped in each other's bodies, I'd say not..."
"Lindsey, I don't want to talk about us and our problems. We didn't make it as a married couple... That's not my fault."
