A/N: words: 4260. hello its the wedding chapter have fun also i am unhinged. anyway, enjoy!
"Buck." Sam muttered sleepily. Bucky grunted in response. "It's our wedding day." Sam felt him smile against his neck.
"I know that."
"Okay, can you please get your ass up so we can get this show on the road?" Sam asked, getting another groan in response. "Bucky." The older man lifted his head up just a bit.
"I do. There, we're married, I'm going back to sleep." Bucky said, shoving his face back in the crook of Sam's neck. Sam scoffed, rolling his eyes.
"Jamie, Yelena's gonna start knocking at our door in T-minus 5 minutes."
"Don't think you can 'Jamie' your way outta this one, Samuel. And, frankly, Yelena could burn our house down, and I wouldn't move, I am very comfortable."
"James, I swear to god."
"What name haven't you tried yet?" With all the strength he could muster, Sam pushed Bucky off of him, getting up from the bed. Bucky scoffed. "Rude."
"We are getting married in," Sam spared a glance at the alarm clock. "10 hours. You need to get up." Sam told him as he made his into the hall, leaving Bucky to grumble alone.
~~~~~~
It all happened a little too fast. By 12, everyone in the wedding party had arrived. The two Wakandan siblings and Yelena were helping Bucky get ready, while Rhodey, Torres, and Sarah were helping Sam. It was hectic, to say the least. The two grooms were to get ready last, leaving the two men to sit and watch the chaos in their respective rooms. After breakfast, Sarah had banished the two of them to separate rooms, Bucky in the guest bedroom, and Sam in their bedroom. Which was probably for the worst.
They had both been left time to think. Definitely for the worst. It was to go without saying, what every connotation of this day meant. It's something that looked as if it was forever on paper. Looked as if it was a sealed deal.
Till death do us part.
It lost it's meaning when death was so common. It lost all it stood for when they've both cheated death so many times before. When death was so easy to come by these days. When all they had felt, for so many years, was death. Death of the people around them, and the small decay of themselves. And what that does to you. What it can do to the other person, when life fades from one, but not the other. When one can lay unconscious for too many hours, and the other has nothing else to do but to suffer the curse of waiting game.
Till death do us part isn't much of vow as it is a curse.
"You okay?" Two women's voices said. Sarah and Shuri raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, just thinking." Came two answers.
"You're up." And two men got handed a suit.
~~~~~~~
Sam stared at himself in the mirror. He looked like his dad. God, he looked so much like his dad. Looked like the man in the picture Sarah always bothered their parents about when they were kids. Looked like the man that would put this suit on from time to time, getting a laugh out of Sam's mother. Looked like the man that Sam looked up to most. Looked the man that never got to see his son get married.
Married. In 45 minutes, Sam was going to be married. He had wanted this for years. He had thought it, one day. When he and Bucky never knew where they were going. Never knew if there was something at the end of a lonely road of nothing but heartache. Never knew if there was an answer to Sam's prayers. And there was. As it turned out, that answer was a pale blue house on the water, situated in Sam's hometown. That answer was finally going home.
