"You're joking."
"I am not." After the mess of their first public event as Captain America and Sergeant Barnes last week, Sam decided that maybe a team bonding between the avengers was a smart idea. Bucky wasn't a fan. "Bucky, we barely know these people, how are we supposed to work with them? How am I supposed to lead them?"
Bucky sighed, shaking his head. "You are incredibly annoying, you do know that, right?" Sam grinned, rolling his eyes fondly.
"It's in two days. Besides, it's not like you have to talk to everyone. Just talk to Yelena or something."
"Yelena? My options are nobody or Yelena?"
"Scott?"
"Scott?" Bucky looked at Sam with his eyebrows raised to his hairline. He was looking at Sam as if he had just murdered someone.
"Oh my god." Sam muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose. Bucky grinned, getting up from the table with his empty bowl. Before making his way to the sink, he stopped and pressed a kiss to Sam's temple.
"If it makes you happy, I'll help host your dumb party." He said into Sam's hairline. Sam grinned.
"That's all I ask."
~~~~~~~~
"How are you not ready?" Bucky complained, the day of the party, laying on their bed with a book in his hands.
"Beauty takes time, Barnes." Sam joked, fiddling with the collar of his shirt. Bucky rolled his eyes. Sam turned to look at Bucky for a second, and raised an eyebrow. "Buck?"
"Yeah?" Bucky said, not looking up from the book in his hands.
"When I said casually, I didn't mean the bare minimum." Bucky was clad in black jeans with holes at the knees. As if he wasn't 106. Paired with a black t-shirt and a flannel button up that looked older than him.
"Hey." Bucky exclaimed, drawing the word out. Sam rolled his eyes. "Were you not dating me for my mystery?"
"No, because you don't look mysterious, you look like a 15 year old boy trying to be edgy." Sam mused. "And," Sam continued, making his way over to Bucky. "I'm not dating you for your looks, I'm dating for your ability to make any social event bearable."
"Nah, I think it's my romance. And the mysterious factor. I totally romanced you." Bucky said, pulling Sam towards him by the collar of his shirt. Sam rolled his eyes.
"People are getting here by six."
"Got to hell." Bucky grunted. Sam smiled, pulling away from Bucky's grip.
"I don't think we have a big enough house for this." Bucky muttered to Sam as they stood behind their kitchen island, his voice in a sing song voice. Sam rolled his eyes.
"It's not that bad."
"Ten people, Sam, ten people."
"We have the space."
"But do we want to have the space?" Bucky asked, causing Sam to hit him in the arm.
"Probably not." A voice said from behind them. Yelena, obviously, because why wouldn't it be?
"Belova."
"Barnes."
"Jesus." Sam muttered, his eyes bouncing from the two ex-assassins. "You know, knowing two ex-assassins is sometimes very annoying. Just... putting that out there."
