Third Person POV

Mia woke to rays of sunlight managing to break through the curtains. A pale arm was draped over her waist as the blonde woman next to her had her face buried in her neck. Mia let a faint smile tug at her lips when she noticed the woman next to her — her hand brushing a strand of hair away from the woman's face.

'She looks so peaceful when she's asleep,' Mia thought to herself before leaning down and pressing a kiss on the woman's cheek. 'It's a shame she's such a smartass when she's awake.'

"I can hear your thoughts about me," The blonde muttered before a yawn escaped her. "I resent that statement, by the way."

"Happy Mother's day, dear," Mia giggled and ran her fingers through her blonde tresses. "How was your sleep?"

"Ignoring what I said?"

"Absolutely because it gets to you every time."

"It does not!"

"You woke up because I called you a smartass in my head, Miranda," Mia sighed before flicking her forehead. "Have the lords ever done anything for you on Mother's day?"

Miranda swatted at her fiancé's hand lazily. "Yeah, let me sleep in. Which you're not doing."

"If it wasn't me, it would've been Eva."

"I can wait until she wakes up," Miranda hummed before burying her face in her pillow. "You should too. It'll be nice to relax."

Mia rolled her eyes but didn't protest, settling down again and shifting closer to Miranda. Even if she didn't end up falling asleep again, at least she'd be in her fiancé's arms until they had to get up. As time went on, Mia found herself drifting off to sleep as well.

Around the time Mia had managed to fall asleep again, the lords were all gathering at castle Dimitrescu — maids rushing about the castle as efficiently as possible. Gold eyes watched the movement of every maid that entered their line of sight, making sure everything was perfect and no maid made the owner of the eyes look like a fool. A doll floated up to be at eye level and the gold eyes became less harsh, a warm smile making its way to the face of the owner.

"Angie, Donna, [Y/N], welcome," The woman's voice was gentle as she knelt and pulled a woman in all black into a hug. "They've been treating you right, right Donna?"

"Of course," The woman — Donna — responded softly after lightly hitting the older woman's arm. "They're the best thing to happen to me since the family became an actual family. Speaking of, how's that maid of yours that made this all possible?"

"...They haven't woken up yet — if it wasn't for the girls begging me not to, I would've killed them by now and put them out of their pain."

"Maybe one day they'll wake up again..."

"It's been two years, Donna. I'm surprised they're still alive. Now, has anyone heard from mother Miranda?"

A chorus of "No's" rang out from the woman's guests and she let out a low hum. "Then it looks like she's sleeping in again. Good, this gives us the time we need. Girls?"
