Isa POV

I paced nervously and stared at the note in my hand, rereading it for what felt like the 600th time since I saw it. Once my door opened, I stopped pacing and looked up, a soft whimper escaping me at the glare Cassandra sent me. When I took a step towards her, she let out a hiss — a warning to not come close. My heart shattered, but I understood why. She was hurt and it was all my fault.

'I should've told her sooner,' Tears filled my eyes as I let my head drop, my heart aching painfully. "Cassie—."

"Don't call me that."

"Cass—."

"Or that."

I swallowed nervously and bowed slightly, whimpering at her hum of approval after my next words. "L-lady Ca-Cassandra?"

"That's the one," Cassandra made her way over to me before grabbing a fistful of my hair, pulling roughly to force me to lock eyes with her again, her gold orbs rolling at my cry of pain. "Shut up."

"I-I'm sorry," I whimpered out, the burn from her grip no longer pleasurable. "Y-you're hurting m-me."

"You hurt me."

'...She's right... I deserve this...'

Lady Cassandra seemed pleased with my silence and let go of my hair, moving back to the door and shutting it. I watched as she began circling me, and the usual hunger in her eyes when she does this is nowhere to be found. When she stopped in front of me again, I felt my heart shatter again. Her eyes were cold — masking the pain she felt — and her nose crinkled, a low growl rising in her throat.

"You still smell like her," She hissed before wrapping a hand around my throat. "I trusted you."

"I-I was—."

"Shut. Up." Cassandra growled as her grip tightened. "You were going to ask me, right? Ask if you could sleep around with the maids? I knew I should've never trusted someone with the blood of the gods coursing through their veins... Gods cheat more than humans do, I should've expected the child of a god to do the same."

Tears began falling down my cheeks as I processed what was happening, a quiet sob leaving me. "Cass please—."

"Do my sisters know?"

"Y-yes! I-I swear! Please... please don't do this..."

Instead of responding, she released my neck and left, ignoring my cries for her. I dropped to my knees as the pain in my chest increased in intensity, my nails elongating into claws to make ripping my shirt and binder off easier. Once I was able to breathe a bit better, I sat down and pulled my knees to my chest, letting silent tears fall.

'My love... My light... I thought you'd love the idea... I was wrong and I hurt you — I deserve this pain. I don't blame you.'
