"I love you."

"I love you too."

As time passed, you listened to the sounds of your daughters chasing maids — your head resting on Alcina's shoulder as she read a book silently. Your gaze lifted from staring blankly at the book, landing on the door when it opened to reveal the triplets. Alcina closed her book and let you move off of her lap before the girls swarmed over to you, the door shutting as they did so.

Daniela snuggled herself into your arms after you laid down, her eyes shining as she waited for the story. You pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead and chuckled at her purr, your unmoving heart melting when she scooted closer to you. Cassandra settled happily between her sisters, a low purr escaping her when Alcina pulled the blanket up a bit further to cover her more. You watched as Bela settled closer to Alcina, facing her sisters and you before a yawn left her.

"We're ready," Daniela whispered with a giggle, clinging to your nightgown. "How'd you meet mother?"

"So eager," You giggled and held Alcina's hand. "Well, we met back when we were human — when your mother was a famous singer and I was an aspiring artist..."

First Meeting

I rushed through the bustling streets — the city alive despite how high the moon was. When I finally reached my destination, I slowed to a stop and took a few deep breaths, only glancing up when the sound of heels clicking reached my ears. My heart stopped as I took in the beauty before me; black hair, and brown eyes that looked lighter due to the overwhelming amount of lights in the main hall.

It didn't process that she had asked me a question until her eyebrow twitched and her face contorted into one of annoyance. I cleared my throat and straightened myself out, desperately trying to ignore the heat that coated my cheeks and my now-racing heart. After offering a sheepish apology, I rubbed the back of my neck — waiting for her to repeat the question.

"Now that you're finally paying attention," The woman scoffed, and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I had genuinely let someone down. "I asked—."

"I'm sorry," I blurted out before cringing, dropping my gaze when she raised an eyebrow at me. "It's just... You seemed really annoyed and disappointed... Because I wasn't paying attention so I-I wanted to—."

"Stop talking."

"Sorry."

The woman was silent for a moment before she took a step toward me, grabbing my jaw and forcing me to look up at her. "I just want to know where the owner of this establishment is. I'm supposed to have dinner with him and one of his best artists."

"Oh! Ri-right this way!" I exclaimed, an internal squeal of excitement leaving me when I realized Otto saw me as one of his bests.

Once we reached Otto's office, I knocked on the door and waited for his response, happily opening the door when he called for us to enter. When I noticed the other woman in the room, my heart broke — knowing I wasn't going to be joining them. After I introduced Otto and the other artist, I went to my area and grabbed a blank canvas, immediately getting to work.
