Chapter 14

Dinner was quiet and serious as Taehyung just focused on his food. Jin and Jimin, however, looks around from time to time but chose not to utter a word.

At the middle of it, Seojoon then spoke to break the ice, "Seokjin-ssi, I must say, I admire your capabilities of finding this mansion again and coming back here despite the efforts of someone to mislead you."

Jin looked at Taehyung first, then to Seojoon's direction. "Ah, thank you Sir. I had my ways, and I think I'm just lucky. So, that someone might not want to see me again that's why he had to send me away like that." Jin frowned a bit.

Seojoon laughed at what Jin said, "I highly doubt that, my dear. I bet he's all over you 24/7."

Taehyung dropped his fork onto his plate then leaned his back on the chair. He took the napkin from his lap and tapped it onto his lips a bit. Then he said, "I lost my appetite. Seokjin, let's go. Come with me."

"But I'm not done eating yet. I want to finish my steak." Jin pouted a bit, which made Taehyung click his tongue.

"Yeah, son. Let him finish his food. Seokjin-ssi, the reason you wanted to find this place again - is that perhaps you are drawn to this arrogant and ignorant Alpha?!" Seojoon said in a loud voice.

"Who is arrogant and ignorant?! You know nothing about me and my Seokjin. So I suggest you stay out of it." Taehyung said, with his eyes turning red.

Jin's forehead creased, unsure of what Taehyung meant by what he said. But he answered Seojoon's statement,
"Sir, it's true that I do have reasons of being here again. However, whether he is arrogant or ignorant - it is still for me to find out. I would really love to know this Alpha more with my own judgment and not based on what others think of him. I'm sure I will see him in a different light."

Seojoon displayed his contented smile, impressed by Jin's words.

Jin then fixed his stare towards Taehyung, which made everyone around the table became silent. The Alpha was taken aback at what Jin said, he stared back at his eyes as well, and his eyes turning green as he let himself succumb into Jin's gaze.

A smirk was forming in Seojoon's lips, feeling amused at what he's seeing. He then went back to eating without saying anything. His sudden movement caught Taehyung's attention though, so he broke eye contact with Jin, he cleared his throat and said,

"Just-- just finish your food and see me in my study when you're done. Excuse me."

Taehyung stood up and left the dining table in a hurry. Yoongi and Namjoon looked at each other as Taehyung exited the dining room.

Then they looked at Seojoon who spoke, "Let him be. He'll contemplate on his actions for a while, as he is liking this subtly. Then he'll go back to being stubborn again. Just watch."

Before Jin can even knock at Taehyung's study room, he already heard Taehyung say, "Come in, Seokjin."

Jin walked into the room and saw Taehyung standing in front of a shelf, looking at some books. Jin approached him and walked along the shelves too - he stopped when he's about a meter away from Taehyung.

"How did you find this place again?" Taehyung asked, his eyes are on the array of hundreds of books.

"I memorized the turns from where I was abducted and blindfolded. Then I tried to trace the way into here." Jin softly said.

"Don't come back here anymore, Seokjin."

Jin creased his forehead. He's a bit annoyed at the straightforwardness of the Alpha. So then he tried to divert their conversation, "Do you like reading books?"

Taehyung sighed deeply. "Yes. When I have free time, I do read."

"I like reading too."

Taehyung stayed silent.

"But I think I have already read most of the books in here." Jin said while scanning the books on the shelves.

Taehyung just scoffed at himself,
"Believe me, I know." He muttered.

"What?" Jin quickly looked at Taehyung. "What in the world do you still know about me?! Hoseok said you already knew me even before I accidentally got here..
Have we met before?..
Maybe we have, then I just forgot. I don't know. Coz I keep having weird dreams. Can you tell me--"

"Jin, it is better that you don't know anything."

"And why is that?! What makes it better that I am clueless of who I am and what I am to you?!" Jin stepped closer and glared at Taehyung. However, the latter did not speak and just stared back at him.

So Jin frustratedly said, "The first time we met, it's as if I was pulled into you. My mark didn't push you away, neither your father. Do any one of you have anything to do with my mark? Why do I feel like my mark is connected to you? Why can't you let me know these things, Taehyung-ssi?!"

"Will you just trust me on this and stop asking things, Seokjin? I wouldn't just send you away like I did the first time, if not for the best. So quit being hard-headed, and stop figuring things out." Taehyung snapped while looking at Jin intensely.

"How do you expect me to trust you when you are being like this?! You are just doing things the way you want it to be, without even letting me know what's true.

I have only just found out that you are the leader of the Moon Night Howlers. Now I don't know what to think. I'm not sure if you are just doing this because you hate JBS. Or if you're really interested in me, that's why you seem to know a lot of things about me. I don't understand anymore. And I am not someone who could sleep peacefully without knowing things..

Kim Taehyung-ssi.. just at least tell me one thing please? My mark - was it you who gave it to me?" Jin asked with pleading eyes.

Taehyung took a deep breath first before answering. "Yes, it's my mark."

Jin's tears started to stream down his face, he then said with trembling lips, "Then why wouldn't you bond with me?! Is it because you are the leader of your pack, and I am just an ordinary human?"

Taehyung looked at Jin straight, without even blinking, he said coldly, "Yes. I really don't want to bond with someone like you."

Jin pressed his lips together as he tried to control his emotions. But he couldn't keep it together so he shouted, "Then why the fuck did you mark me?!!"

"It was a mistake I couldn't undo, Seokjin. You don't even remember the time when I marked you, right? Therefore, it's not special at all." Taehyung said in his low voice.

Jin couldn't understand the pain he was feeling at Taehyung's words. All questions in his mind just kept on coming, but he can't ask even one anymore.

"You-- you are the worst Alpha I have e-ever met!! I will do a-anything and everything to take your mark off me!!" Jin said, his eyes welled up with tears.

"J-just stay far away from me. It will do."

Jin glared at Taehyung before he quickly ran out of the room, frantically wiping his tears.

As soon as the door closed, Taehyung tapped his palm on the shelf, causing it to break in a snap and all the books scattered on the floor.

He was breathing rapidly, trying to hold back his tears that are threatening to fall.
