Chapter 21: Her Ex

Kari's Office...

"I.... I just.... miss you," He says sadly.

"What?" Kari asks, honestly confused.

"I missed you," Minho says again. "I've regretted everything that's happened since we broke up. I want to talk about getting back together."

"You want to get back together? Now?" Kari asks incredulously.

"Listen, I know things ended badly before..."

"Badly? You tore out my heart, stomped on it, and caused a huge scene here. Then you ran away and forced us to end your contract early so you could work for another company," Kari spits out bitterly.

"I know what I did was wrong and I honestly regret it. I messed up so badly, it kills me knowing how much I hurt you," He admits to her.

"Minho, I don't even trust what you're telling me right now. You hurt me so much and you lost all my trust. Don't call me again. Goodbye," Kari says angrily.

She hangs up before hearing anymore from him. She quickly grabs the rest of the invites and runs to the elevator before Minho tries to call her again. She's so preoccupied with her thoughts about Minho that she doesn't notice the elevator stop on the sixth floor.

She stays inside when the doors open, staring off into space. As luck would have it Jooyoung's waiting for the lift and is about to get in when he notices the spaced out Kari.

"Kari?" He asks with a concerned tone as he stops the doors from closing,

She starts and looks directly at Jooyoung, blinking a few times to clear her head.

"Oh, sorry."

Kari exits the elevator but stops suddenly and turns back to him. He looks at her hopeful she'll talk to him, however, she only hands him an invitation before walking away. She knows it's the perfect time to talk to him, and she really wants to tell him about what just happened, but she's too stunned to have a coherent conversation.

She continues handing out invitations until only a few remain before returning to her office where her phone is thankfully silent. Kari works for a few more hours before grabbing her things and heading upstairs.

As she walks to the stairs she hears yelling coming from a conference rooms. Suddenly the door bursts open and a very pissed off Minho walks out. He walks straight past her without even seeing her. He's boards an elevator and is going down before Kari can even blink.

Kari can't help her curiosity so she peeks into the conference room and is surprised to find Jooyoung inside. She immediately begins to wonder what they were arguing over. She's also confused about why Minho was there is the first place.

As she's thinking and as more thoughts and questions pop into her head she slowly makes her way up the two flights of stairs to the apartment. As she reaches the apartment her cell dings with a text.

I don't care what that guy says. I won't give up on you. I'll earn your trust back, just give me the chance. - Minho

She looks at her phone in confusion wondering even more about what he and Jooyoung were talking about earlier. She's also wondering why Minho says he isn't giving up? It's not like she gave him any indication that she forgives him. With these revelations Kari becomes more confused now than she was a few moments ago.

Lost in thought Kari jumps when she suddenly feels pressure on her shoulder. Turning she finds Casey looking at her with concern. Kari gestures to her door before walking away from Casey, indicating that she wants to talk soon.
