Next morning when Alec woke up, Magnus was already up. He left their room and went into the living room to find Magnus talking on the phone.
As soon as the warlock saw him, he said quickly, "let me call you back," and hastily hung up.
"What was that about?" Alec asked, not without a touch of hurt in his voice.
"Nothing," he said too quickly.
"I don't believe you," Alec said, quickly becoming angry.
Within moments, they were really fighting, not just bickering like they sometimes did.
By the time Izzy walked in, the fight was too far gone for her to be able to distinguish what had originally been the issue. All she could tell was that there was a lot of yelling from both parties, about everything from the way they make waffles to their abilities in the bedroom.
They were just being cruel, and she doubted either's minds had caught up with their mouths.
She stood on the sidelines wondering what to do for only a moment before stepping between the two men.
She raised her hands high above her head and yelled, perhaps a bit louder than was necessary.
The volume aside, her action was very affective. Both Magnus and Alec shut up and stared at her as if she were some bizarre alien and needed to be exterminated.
After a moment of stunned silence, Alec pointed to the door shakily and said, "Izzy. I love you a lot, you know that. But this is between Magnus and myself, so leave this second or the angel help me, I will make you leave."

20 minutes later, Alec stormed into the Institute and made himself a bed in his old room.
He didn't talk to anyone for the rest of the day.

Jace woke up that morning with a sore back. The motel room was anything but comfortable, and he still had no runes on his body. He idly wondered what had happened or even if his body could still support runes, but didn't care enough to go looking for answers.
He still couldn't believe that while he was busting his ass to get back to her, Clary had already found down dickbag to bang instead. Did he really mean that little to her?
