𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄𝐓𝐘 𝐍𝐄𝐓, ᵗʰᵉ ᵛᵃᵐᵖⁱʳᵉ ᵈⁱᵃʳⁱᵉˢ

𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 + 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 & 𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘬...𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘦

𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞, 𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐧

after some arguing—okay, a lot of arguing, phoebe and stefan were now preparing to dig up his father's grave.

"hey, why isn't your father buried in your family's tomb?" phoebe asked her boyfriend as she held a flashlight on the headstone, reading the lines in her head.

"it wasn't built until well after he died" stefan answered, placing lit torches around the grave.

"and the grimoire is in there with him. great" phoebe voiced, trying to hide her anxiety and the rising conflicting feeling in her chest.

but stefan noticed it and stopped, holding the shovels in place to look up at her,"phoebe".

the girl turned to him, bitting the inside of her cheek.

"i can do this on my own".

"and i said i would do whatever i can to help" she  stated, swallowing her guilt.

"i know, and i appreciate that, but—"

phoebe shook her head,"but nothing. this town is my home. my friends and family are here. you're here. i don't want that tomb open anymore than you do".

stefan hesitated a bit, but nodded and handed the teen a shovel.

the couple glanced at each other a few times as they prepared to dig, but stefan hesitated and exhaled a breath.

phoebe saw this and decided to try and lighten the mood up a bit with a joke, hoping it'll make it easier for him,"besides what else could i possibly be doing with my night than digging up my boyfriend's father's grave?"

stefan chuckled softly at the joke, breaking him from his thoughts, appreciating what she was trying to do.

phoebe's smile grew a bit, watching stefan loosen up a little,"like nothing else is this fun".

the salvatore teen smiled up at his girlfriend, who was already looking at him,"thank you".

the girl returned the smile,"of course".

with however long it's been, stefan and phoebe were still digging—well stefan was doing most of the work—don't get her wrong, phoebe would love to do something, anything to help, but her overly stubborn boyfriend wouldn't let her do anything.

the only thing the girl could do was hold the flashlight.

she was just standing there, watching her boyfriend go out of breath from digging and she couldn't help, but to sigh out of exasperation, hoping she would catch his attention which, she did.

"what?" he stopped digging to look up at her, worriedly.

"nothing" phoebe shrugged, nonchalantly.

"okay" stefan nodded, going back to dig up the grave.

"it-it's just, you know, i-i could help" the teen adds, bouncing up and down on her heels.
