Thorns

I sigh, after a long shift of working at Maki’s cafe. Normally, it’s a quiet little place but quickly became overcrowded with the news that both Tiger and Divino work there. Crazy fans, a lot of them!

My support today was probably good and bad. I can almost imagine the headlines. "Thorns, Tiger and Divino found working at Mai's Cafe!" Bullshit.

I press my hand into Maki’s and she smiles at me. I look around, making sure no one is looking, and I cup her face. She leans into my touch, exhausted. I press my lips against hers, gently, and she presses into my touch. It starts to rain lightly, and I look up. We both laugh, knowing a storm is coming, and start to run.

We eventually end up at my home, a decent sized house which isn’t over exaggerating. I have the money to buy a big house, but I’m not greedy. A small, neighbourly home is enough for me. “Your house is lovely,” Maki says and I straighten with a gasp. This is the first time she’s seen my home. “Oh- uh…” I stutter, my face bright. She laughs at my awkwardness. We’ve been at her house a multitude of times, but never mine. She kisses me again, pinning my back against the wall.

We laugh and I let Maki explore my house. She’s fascinated and I love it. She eventually finds my bedroom and lays on my bed. She sighs, content, and I gently lay beside her.

“Today was busy, huh?” I joke and Maki huffs, her eyes staying closed. “God, it’s because I’m associated with Megumi,” she says and I pull myself closer to her. My arm wrapped delicately around her stomach and waist. “I’m sorry this happened,” I say and she smiles at me. She shifts her weight from her back to her side and kisses the top of my forehead. “You’re apologising to the wrong person,” she sighs and I nod. “I, unfortunately, benefit from this and I hate that.”

I go over to Megumi’s again, the next day, and we reheat the ramen. Megumi sighs and I post on Twitter that I won’t be streaming until this whole situation is over. Megumi sees this and looks at me mad. “Why?” They ask and I sigh. I avoid eye contact and they know.

“Maki’s strong, you know? She could probably beat anyone up who’d reveal your relationship,” they say, joking and nudge me softly. I press my lips in a line and whimper. Megumi curses then wraps an arm around my shoulders, comforting me. I lean my head against his shoulder.

“I don’t want her to get unnecessary attention,” I say. “I want the best for her! But- but I can’t breathe around her and I feel like I’m on Cloud Nine. Like an anxiety attack without the suffering!” I say, hating how open I am and Megumi nods. “Never thought I’d live to see the day of Kugisaki Nobara in love,” they say and I scowl.

“In love? With Maki-san?!” I shout and Megumi smiles. I shake my head, exclaiming it’s not possible. “What you just said says otherwise,” Megumi shrugs and I hit him lightly.

“Don’t be cheeky,” I say, blushing, and Megumi smiles. He cleans our ramen dishes and puts them in a tidy drawer. We continue to talk and I eventually get him to open up about Yuji.

“I feel bad…” they start and I nod. “I’m only famous because of him and I can’t even contact him. I know so little about his physicality, yet, I claim to be his ‘friend’. It’s horrible, Kugisaki,” Megumi says and shakes their head. They try to hide their emotions again. “I don’t deserve any of this fame,” they add, quietly, and I ruffle their hair. “No,” I say, trying to be comforting. “If you weren’t meant to have any of this, why do you why not someone else?” I ask and Megumi frowns. “You’re a kind person with a bigger heart than you’d like to believe,” I finish and place Megumi’s hand across their chest. They smile and thank me.

I sigh while reading this tweet and decide to read through its comments.

“@thxrns replied:
“Nope! Nobara is not quitting, the link is spam! She’s taking a break, due to what happened with Tiger and Divino! Cheers, everyone! <3”

I smile reading this one and thank her in response. “I’m sorry to do it…” I read as I type. “But it’s saddening to know what’s happening to Yuji and Megumi so I refuse to make content.”

Anyway, I'm feeling lonely and tempted to quit posting bc of how much I spend writing vs how much votes there are :(
I tested positive on Tuesday for the Virus, so I feel really lonely. Sorry for the rant
