I press on the right hand side of the mouse as my sister, Tsumiki, learns how to play Minecraft. My cousin, Maki, is behind us, filming. She’s dying of laughter.

A notification pops up on Discord and I read it’s from “Tiger”. I smile. “Miki, may I talk to my friend quickly?” I ask and she nods.

“She’s just happy you have friends,” Maki says and I roll my eyes. We’re more like siblings than Tsumiki and I are, which is hilarious. “Yeah, at least I have some. Unlike you,” I add, cocky, and Maki snorts, rolling her eyes. Tsumiki smiles, oddly amused.

“Hey, wanna play MC together ;) ?”

I’ve learnt Yuji doesn’t really get innuendos for… adult stuff over the past week. He thought “DTF” stood for “Dealing with Thoughts of Failure”... he’s the same age as me but I still call him a “poor kid”.

“The wink-y face often means dtf, Yuji,” I reply and grab my headset to call him. “I’m gonna talk to him, whilst you play, cool?” I ask and Tsumiki nods.

Yuji joins the call, whining. “Why couldn’t you let me have my innocence, Fushiguro?” I laugh and Tsumiki smiles at me. I point out that it’s night in the game and she should sleep. Yuji sounds confused.

“Sorry. My sister’s playing right now so…” Megumi shrugs and Yuji laughs. “Also, how can you say you have innocence? You’re a streamer!” I joke and Yuji huffs. Tsumiki blushes a bright red and Maki raises her brows.

“True, true,” he eventually ends up saying. “Anyways, can I talk to your sister?” He asks and I nod, disconnecting the headphones from the computer.

I plug in a plug-in mic (A/N: Like in Death Note, with L) and Yuji starts speaking. “He-hello?” He stutters and Tsumiki smiles. “Hello, Yuji-kun!” She says and they start talking, Yuji teaching her how to play while I relax with Maki. “I swear this voice sounds so familiar,” she mutters to me and I shrug it off.

“Probably your imagination,” I tell her and she scowls. She nags me and Tsumiki laughs. “I’m so glad you have a good friend, Megumi!” She says and I nod. “Megumi,” Yuji repeats. “What a pretty name!” He laughs and I blush a bright red. Maki nudges me and I roll my eyes.

“My GayDar is telling me he’s queer as fuck,” Maki mutters and I sigh. Tsumiki goes back to the game and Yuji encourages her some more. “Yeah, well that’s because you’re stupid and a lesbian,” I retort and Maki chuckles. She shrugs, a smile on her face.

In the background of Yuji’s side, I hear another person talking and he apologises to me. Just me. “Sorry, Megs, I’ve got to go. Good luck, Tsumiki!” He logs off and I smile. Tsumiki does too. She asks to be pardoned, heading off for a shower then bed, as she flies back to Okinawa tomorrow.

“Night, Tsu,” I say and she smiles. We aren’t overly affectionate as siblings, having a few moments of smiles here and there. She ruffles my hair and I flatten it again.

“Wow… you really like that kid, huh?” She says and I blush.

“Yeah, as a friend,” I scowl. It’s funny how Maki and I are more like siblings than Tsumiki and I. Maybe that’s because she lives in Sendai as well. She owns and operates a little cafe here, I’ve actually started working there, part-time. Only on Mondays and Wednesdays.

“Sure, sure.”

I text Kugisaki later that night, as I usually do. She talks about a cute barista she met, the other day, who gave her their number. She’s over the moon about it. I think about what Maki said earlier.

I can only text one thing back. “I think I like Yuji.”

I grab earphones and she starts ringing me, as a facetime. She’s seen my face before, I don’t care if she sees it again. “Megumi, what the actual fuck?” She shouts and I wince, lowering the volume. “How long have you known? If I’m not the first person to know, I will drive there and beat-” I cut her off.

“I promise, Nobara, I just figured it out myself. But I think Maki’s sceptical,” I say and she furrows her brow.

“Maki? That’s the name of the Barista…”

“Shit, you’re dating my cousin?!”

Author's Note

Sorry if this is bad, 90% of this was written in less than 40 minutes :)
Thank you, again for reading (even if I didn't know where I was going with this chapter)...
I guess it was relationship building, I'm hoping yall get strong sense of Connections between each character, otherwise I failed.
And this part of the plan wasn't well thought out so, it gets better (and angsty) later 😉
