Alec buried the tree's roots and grumbled to himself. He was not immune to the sounds occurring inside the house and he begrudgingly finished his task. The wolf was keeping males, who came to sneak a peek at the obvious sounds of mating, away.

Alec was going to join him and hoped more challengers would appear. He needed a distraction or a very cold bath. He listened intently despite himself. It wasn't his fault that they were distracting him.

He didn't know what a terrible time it was to deliver his gift. He should have planted it and waited until Drew came out and saw it. Instead he got close enough to smell the arousing scent and is being berated by the moans behind him.

Alec stamped his feet far harder than necessary as he packed the dirt around the base of the small tree. Drew accepted his gifts, but hasn't brought him into her family yet. His brother kept telling him to be more patient, but he has been way more patient than he ever has been before.

The moans behind him were driving him crazy. The wolf wasn't leaving him anyone to beat. Alec felt his frustrations building and his reproductive organ was painfully hard. Alec shifted and flew to the river. He wasn't surprised when his brother joined him sometime later.

Alec pouted and tried to mess with his brother to distract himself, but he earned a few painful hits for his attempts. Alec floated in the water and tried to think of what to do. Gifts didn't seem to be working well, aside from his first one.

He didn't have the same level of patience that his brother had. He felt restless thinking about how long he would have to wait. Alec didn't see anything wrong with his attempts so far.

It was obvious that Drew even enjoyed his presence. Alec thought smugly to himself about the few times he caught her looking at him. Just because she would also look at the other males in her family didn't make him feel less.

Rowan watched as his brother floated aimlessly while he cooled his own heated body. He had waited until the tiger came back before he left. Drew's wolf male was capable enough, but he preferred not to trust others with a job he felt was important.

It wasn't the first time he and Alec had chased off curious males. Before the tiger came, they would often assist unbeknownst to Drew. The newly mature males had a harder time controlling themselves and mating was not usually a quiet thing.

Rowen silenced the topic of mating as soon as it entered his mind. He successfully controlled his urges, but he wasn't able to prevent them entirely. Rowan settled into a sitting position. The water flowed around his dark skin and rose to his chest.

He listened intently around him for any signs of danger. He honed his hearing beyond the usual capabilities of hawk beastmen. As he was blind in his right eye, he compensated for the weakness. All he heard was the mutterings of Alec and beasts who were far away.

His brother was coming up with gift ideas and Rowan sighed. He didn't think his younger brother's approach was wrong. Considering Alec's normal temperament and impatience, he was doing well. Although he could sympathize with Alec's frustrations, Rowan was insistent on being careful.

Drew wasn't like any female he had ever encountered. Her reactions were unpredictable and her common sense was foreign. He was preparing his own gift, but his would take time. He grew excited thinking of whether she would like it, but buried it quickly. He often scolded Alec about getting emotional, but here he was almost indulging in the same conduct. He would wait. Just as he had been doing, for however long he thought necessary.
